NO COMMENTING FOR YOU

I’ll be damned…LJ support actually answered my question. It turns out that anonymous commenting is currently disabled for reasons that were not explained. LJ developers are aware of the issue and working to fix it but in my opinion they need to step it up…this has been going on for nearly a year if not more. And now, since I know they’ll answer, I’ll put in another request to get help getting my theme back, hopefully. Wish I had sent in the support question before I changed themes, but oh well. It’s July 1st! Halfway through 2022. Good grief, how...

DISAPPOINTED AND DEFLATED

Bummed out about my stupid journal. I tried switching my layout to one of the newer themes, knowing that it might not work and if it didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to get my Findus theme back, and sure enough, that’s exactly what happened. I’ve sent a ticket into the LJ support email asking for help on the issue about non-LJ accounts not being able to comment, but I have no idea if I’ll get an answer. And I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my theme back, even though when I was searching around...

WEATHER THE WEATHER

I just scrolled back through my friends feed, which was all colossal and comics and made it all the way to June 7 before there was an actual post from an actual person on my friends list (and that, one that I’ve never met in person and probably never will). So, I guess I’m not the only one being lame about blogging. I’m still writing my daily good things list on FB, that must count for something, right? LJ is super buggy nowadays, which makes me think that the powers that be behind the LJ scenes are no longer at...

SUMMER SLUG

Having a pinched nerve in my neck is the weirdest sensation. If I tilt my head back slightly, my right hand fills with pins and needles. The moment I bend my head forward, it disappears…mostly. I have the faintest sensation of needles in my knuckles even afterwards. If I don’t tilt my head forward, the pins and needles intensify until my elbow and even the front of my shoulder are tingling. When I googled “pinched nerve”, one medical website says they will often go away by themselves, normally after 4-6 weeks, but it’s already been at least that. Another medical...

SUMMER APPARENTLY TURNS ME UPSIDE DOWN

Geez louise, my last post was in MAY. How do I manage to go this long without writing when my intentions have paved the way to hell and back, they’re so good. Part of the issue is my ongoing, renewed struggle with the pinched nerve in my neck, which began again with a vengeance about a month ago. Just sitting at the computer causes it to pinch, which causes my entire right arm to go tingly and numb all the way down to my fingertrips. It pinches when I tilt my head back, even just slightly. 🙁 GAH. Last time...

THE SITCH

It’s the last day of a 4-day weekend and Mors Dag here in Sweden. We had Thursday and Friday off for Ascension day and a bridge day, and it’s been a relatively quiet, very relaxing weekend for the most part…except for some major bummer stuff that happened on Friday. On Thursday, Karin came over with Brumma and we hung out on the deck in the sunshine and watched the birds. The weather all weekend has been very changeable with a little bit of everything, including a triple rainbow over Flyinge. We get double rainbows quite often but I think this...

BOOKISHNESS

I’ve had this list for a while, before we went to Rome, in fact, but I was waiting until I had finished writing about our vacation after our return. We had a bumper crop of recommendations for next year’s book group books: FORTY-SIX books to choose from. GAH. I actually hope that the organizer will cut the max to 3 per person in the future, because having to wade through a list that long is hard! And, of course, it narrows the chances of any of MY recommendations being chosen…which is what happened this year. Five excellent recommendations from me,...

ROMAN HOLIDAY, THE FINAL FIFTH

No rain at all for our last full day in Rome: 26C and sunny. We headed out and walked down the Via Nazionale to the beautiful Palazzo delle Esposizione where they were holding an exhibition of the world press photo of the year plus installations on many of the contenders and past winners. Sobering and disturbing to see and read about as so many of them showed the terrible violence that man inflicts on himself and his environment. Afterwards, we walked to the Metro and took the subway to the end of the gardens of the Villa Borghese, a huge...

ROMAN HOLIDAY, PART 4

A big day and a big attraction: the Vatican! We were up at 8, breakfasted by 9 and it was another gorgeous sunny day. We took the Metro almost all the way to the Vatican and then stood in several lines: for entrance, for security, to exchange our vouchers for tickets, to pick up audio guides. We got in just after 11, which was almost an hour earlier than our scheduled prebooked time at 12. And we needed every minute of it. The Vatican museums are VAST and there is so much to see that you could literally spend days...

ROMAN HOLIDAY, PART THREE

On Saturday, we went to the Pantheon, after a later wake up time and breakfast at 9 (as if we were on vacation, haha!). We had tickets for a guided tour at 11 and decided to walk (36 minutes) as the forecast said rain at 11, continuing all day. Instead, the sun came out and the forecast kept moving the rain back all day. We got there early and sat on the steps of the fountain across from the entrance for a bit before going in. Tickets for entrance were already sold out for the day, so we were very...
