PLANTY, PINCHY, PERSPIRING

It’s super hot and muggy today, the kind of weather I like the absolute least. We’ve got every fan in the house going, all the windows are open, and even the front door, trying to get a cross-breeze. I was just out in the garden watering and the water was sucked up by the earth as fast as it came out of the hose.

Martin and I went to the plantshop after work and bought a new coral-colored rosebush for under the trellis and Anders already planted it. I hope it’s as prolific as the previous one was. I doubt it could be as bananas as the front yard rosebush, but fingers crossed! Of course, I realized we should have bought something to replace the snapdragons with as well, but I had forgotten that they didn’t make it through the last heat wave.

Tomorrow I am seeing a doctor at the spine center in Malmö. I was at the physiotherapist yesterday but honestly, I don’t feel like they are DOING anything. They just listen to the same recital of symptoms each time, and nod. The exercises they gave me aren’t making any difference, and neither did the 2 weeks of extra ibuprofen. GAH. It’s still tingling in my hand and fingers, and gets worse when I lean down, reach with my right hand, or sit at a table or desk. Even being careful with my posture and position doesn’t make much difference to the constant burn in my right hand and pointer finger.

My sister was cleared to fly yesterday and she and my mom leave tomorrow, flying direct to Munich, arriving on Friday. I hope it goes smoothly, and that her head isn’t made worse by the flight. She’s got a massive shiner, and I told her she was going to scare the children. 😀 I really hope she is vastly improved by the time they leave.

Yesterday, I had a nice last-minute invitation from Debbie to go to the movies and finally see Downtown Abbey, which she and I have been talking about but not getting around to for weeks. I was getting my hair done in Malmö so it worked out perfectly as I just went straight to the theater afterwards and met her there. The movie was enjoyable and light summer fare, and nice to see all the characters again, though I was surprised they chose to end it on a sad note. Afterwards, I drove to Lund and hung out at TUGG while Martin finished up work. He made me a burger and fries as I hadn’t had dinner, and I just saw and read my book, while they cleaned up the restaurant and closed down for the day. It’s fun to see Martin at work, in his TUGG hat and shirt. He has a very different air of authority there. 🙂

Anders starts vacation tomorrow afternoon, as he ends his last course at lunchtime, and is taking the rest of the day, and Friday, off. He has two weeks of vacation ahead, before I even start. I’m starting to really want my vacation, too! It’s hard to work when everyone else is off. Ah well, two more weeks!
