APRIL?! APRIL SHOWERS AND APRIL HOURS

Holy rabbits, Batman, how can it be April already? Yesterday was a holiday here in Sweden since it was Easter Monday, which was a shame, because it meant we couldn’t pull April Fool’s pranks on our colleagues in the office. One of the big Swedish newspapers had an excellent joke article on their main page, mentioning that Ven, the island off the coast of southern Sweden, was going to have to lose 500 meters worth of land in order to accommodate NATO warships. I saw some funny ones after the fact today. One worth mentioning was Dulux Paints Instagram post featuring their new Scratch ‘n Sniff paints. “Your walls never smelled so good!” Haha! And Aldi’s Haggis-Dasz ice cream ws hilarious, too. I guess I don’t see these because I don’t follow any companies on Instagram. I don’t read any newspapers much, either.

One article I saw mentioned that April Fool’s jokes had largely disappeared the past few years due to the rise of fake news and disinformation. I can see why. It’s hard to know what’s for real much of the time these days, and much of the REAL news I wish wasn’t. 🙁

The office was hopping today, with everyone back fully charged from the 4-day weekend, though there was a lot of lamenting that 4 days wasn’t really enough. We could all have done with at least a week, minimum. I had several meetings, but one in the late afternoon was cancelled, for which I gave the organizer a hug, because it meant I could get some actual work done.

When I left the office at 4, the traffic coming out of our office was crazy and super backed up, with a slow turn to get to the main traffic circle. I had to go to Willy’s to get bagels, and trying to get back out again was also slow. And then, as I came up to the big traffic circle where you turn to get on the highway, I saw that the northbound lanes were dead-stop, so I was able to continue straight instead and take the parallel road that I usually take anyway. I thought to myself, “Whew! Add that to the good things list!” ony to discover that everyone else had had the same thought, and Odarslövsvägen was super slow crawling down the hill to Gårdstånga. I was able to call Karin, Martin, AND my mom, before I made an early turn to avoid the last half of it. UGH.

After a semi-warm-ish weekend, it poured rain all day today, and apparently we are heading for freezing temperatures and even snow tomorrow and Thursday. NOOOOOOOOOOO. Then it’s supposed to shoot up to 16C. What whiplash weather! Anders is in Finland this week, but Karin comes home late Thursday and Martin will join me to pick her up and bring her home. I suspect Olivia will be joining us as well, though I’m not sure if she’ll be at the pickup place since Karin said she was working on Thursday. I haven’t seen her since dropping off Christmas cookies for her in December. Karin has only seen her once as well since she left in November.

The only bad thing about Karin coming home is that she no longer has a car here. Guess whose car she will be wanting to continually borrow? :/ I think Anders wants to wait and see what her plans are before he does anything about helping her with a new set of wheels. If she will be going to school in Copenhagen as hoped/planned, we don’t think she’ll need a car. She’ll probably say otherwise, haha!

Considering the huge amount of work I have, I still feel pretty relaxed about things, though my shoulder was already hurting again by lunchtime. Even doing all the stretching exercises the physiotherapist gave me doesn’t do much. I still feel like there is something wrong with my workstation situation. Double-triple-super UGH.

Time is flying indeed. I need to get planning on my birthday trip for August. I still have not been able to decide between Ireland and the south of France. Eeny meeny miney mo. Even a pros and cons list hasn’t helped. I want to go to both equally badly. I tried a decision wheel website and entered both options on the wheel multiple times and spun it. France! France again! Dang, then Ireland. Hmmmmm…

I feel so bad for you, having to wait five whole minutes in traffic over there! THE HUMANITY! 🙄
