I HEART ART

I linked to my personal dream art gallery from my menu here on the blog, which was a post that I had originally put together back in 2005. Of course, nearly all of the links were broken, and when I went through the list, many of the artists were either nowhere to be found or I decided I must have been delusional back then because their style was so completely NOT something I care for now.

Interesting if so, that one’s tastes can change so much. I’ve updated the list with links to many of the artists that I currently love and follow on Instagram, who produce art I would purchase in a hot second if 1) I could afford it, 2) I had a free wall to display it on, and 3) I didn’t feel as if I’m too old to be in acquisition mode. Factor in that I have plenty of art that is already sitting in my closet because I don’t have any free wall space for it, and the urge to buy more becomes moot.

I love scrolling through my Instagram feed because I have filled it with the accounts of amazing artists whose work I love, in all kinds of mediums: painting, photography, poetry, drawing, illustration, graphic design, ceramics, embroidery, paper art, sculpture, you name it. I actually avoid adding Instagram accounts of regular friends, especially if they post the same stuff to both Insta and Facebook…I just follow them on Facebook instead. I just want it to be a calming, comforting, place to look at beautiful things. If I really covet the art, I can save the image to my Instagram collections. In fact, I think I might link to one or more of those collections from my menu as well. 🙂

Just now, when I was looking at my Insta collection named Beauty, I had to laugh at the number of moose photos in it. I suspect there are not many people out there who would consistently think moose are beautiful. 😀 haha! I’d love to print a book of all the gorgeous images in my Beauty collection, but since they aren’t mine, I guess that isn’t allowed, and can’t happen. Bummer. But as long as we have electricity, and the Internet, and Instagram, I can enjoy my personal art galleries online. Hurrah for virtual art, and real art, and art!

I love reading your posts. I know how important art is to you. Maybe you might consider having a spot to rotate some of that stuff in the closet. I might have to do the same- as NO space here!
