HI HO CHEERIO

This morning as we left the house, the sun was shining in an electric blue sky. It was already 7C and the day promises to improve. If I was outside or had windows at work, I’d be a happy camper. As it is…sigh So since I can’t enjoy it, go read this instead:

Spring in Sweden, Complete with Pictures: Swedish Spring by idahoswede

The meeting last night was good and bad. We had guests from the other international club in town at our board meeting because we thought it would be nice, since we have so many members in common nowadays, to see what we could do to work together. One of the ladies was very personable and open. The other two, however, were very off-putting, cold and gave off very unwelcoming vibes. They also made several disparaging remarks about both our club and Americans in general. ๐Ÿ™ We believe that there is room in Malmรถ for two international clubs since we have slightly different profiles and offer different activities for our memberships. They seem to see us as rivals instead.

We had 2 guest speakers at the meeting, both certified dieticians, who gave an excellent talk about nutrition and healthy living. However, I felt like we were sitting in a free-for-all with people zinging out questions and comments and tangential remarks left and right. I talked to the two of them afterwards, and they were also taken aback by the atmosphere and felt like there was no control. Since they are both members, perhaps people felt they could be casual and off-the-cuff, but I didn’t think it was really the way to treat someone who was making a presentation for our benefit.

However, there was a lot of energy in the room, we got a lot of information distributed and several good ideas taken up. I also managed to offload a project onto someone else, which makes me feel both relieved and guilty. After I got home at 10, I drove our babysitter Erika home (and she told me she managed to get the kids in the tub with no problem!) and then made the changes to the website so it could go live. I crashed into bed like a log at 11:30 p.m.

Somewhere in the middle of the night, Karin came and got in bed with me, but I didn’t really register it. The alarm was like a shock of cold water on my face at 6:30 and because Anders is gone I couldn’t hit the snooze button for half an hour, but had to get up and get the kids dressed and fed. Martin asked me if they had to have cold cereal for the whole week because Daddy was gone. Anders alternates giving them cream of wheat, but it literally makes me gag, so I refuse to make it. ๐Ÿ™‚ So they are stuck with Cheerios for 3 days in a row, oh the humanity! haha

I’m taking the kids with me to choir tonight, keep your fingers crossed or your thumbs held, but not both because then they cancel each other out, that all goes well.

In other news, I am now the proud owner of an LJ paid account. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for all your encouragement! Now I just have to find the time to play with it.

Edited to add: I’m doing some whittling in my Friends list. I feel like I’ve gone totally over my head with the amount of stuff I try and keep up with. If I remove you it’s mostly because I feel that we aren’t connecting much or don’t have a lot in common anymore, and hope that no one will be offended. I almost never post friends-only anyway, so you are more than welcome to continue reading my LJ if you wish.
