ONLY 2 MORE AND WE’D HAVE A COMPLETE SITH BASEBALL TEAM

I feel like everything in my head is so disjointed. When I sit down to start writing, it all tries to shove out past my fingertips in staccato sentences and bullet points: bang! bang! There doesn’t seem to be any flow in me right now, no story, no form. Martin and I went berry-hunting today at the schoolyard. All the rowans are ruby-dotted with huge clusters of bright red berries. We figure the birds have more than enough and no one will miss half a bag full for us to use as table decorations for the Halloween party. We still...

GOURD YOU BE MINE?

I’ve never been a big fan of dried fruit, but O! dried pineapple chunks are SO GOOD. They’re better than candy. They’re like MAGIC candy! 30 days hath September…so far 12 of them are still blank on our calendar. eep! My brother reminded my family and I that it’s time to start the familiy Christmas wish lists so that everyone has time to get started. Little does he know I started months ago. muahaha! Massage tomorrow…mmmmm! thank goodness because my neck really, REALLY needs it. The woman who offered to coordinate our annual pumpkin patch field trip for the AWC...

15 MINUTES

I was approached recently and asked for an interview for a recently launched expat website that posts the experiences of people who have moved and are living abroad. “If you are considering an international move yourself, let ExpatInterviews.com show you examples of real people who have done it successfully. Learn how they did it, how they managed to survive the difficulties of moving to another country, and how they are happily living their life’s dream. You too can make such dreams possible; this site will be one of the first steps in the right direction.” Read the interview *** I...

THE ENVELOPE, PLEASE

Busy days and houseguests are not leaving me much time to either journal or catch up or do much commenting, but thanks to having had the foresight to arrange for a judge for the marriage-advice-poetry contest, I have a post, with content! First of all, thank you to everyone who participated! I hope you had as much fun thinking up your entries as Liz Elayne and I had reading them, …along with my brother and his new bride who will doubtless take ALL of your advice to heart immediately. ๐Ÿ˜€ Liz Elayne took her job very seriously and was in...

I don’t know about you guys, but I get twitchy when I’m without computer access for an extended period…and that is what is looming up in my face RIGHT NOW. We are leaving at o’hell early in the morning to fly to Germany to celebrate my baby brother’s nuptials with the whole fam damily. Wish me luck singing! studiozoe and her Tobey are housesitting for us, for which favor I am very grateful. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I will wish YOU luck with a contest that I have devised to keep you occupied (and get comments, lots and lots of pretty, pretty...

PROBABLY IN THE SAME CATEGORY: ASKING QUESTIONS OF YOUR READERS

The rapeseed is blooming! There’s a huge swath of neon-yellow in the field behind our house and when you crest the hill from Lund you can see a green and brown and yellow patchwork quilt spread out in front of you, with rapeseed glowing in giant yellow squares and skinny pointy windmills turning slowing in the breeze. If you start counting quickly, just as you go over the top, you can count 22 of them before you reach the bottom. I am very glad that the Eurovison Song Contest is over for another year. What a frightshow. I must apologize...

BY CHANCE MET, BY CHOICE FRIENDS

My friend Marilyn over at California Fever, wrote a very insightful post today about why people blog, how blogging affects the people who do it, and how the blogosphere has changed in the past few years, both for the better and for the worse. I found myself nodding along with her assessments, for the most part. There seems to be a lot of reflection going on out there among my virtual friends these days and many of us have experienced the cyclical ups and downs of online writing, online journaling, online blogging, or whatever the hell you want to call...

I LOVE YOU, MAN

I love this journal. I love this community. I love the people I’ve met here who live in Sweden, who live in the States, who live all over the freaking world. Who take the time to stop by and read my blabbiter lickum and my obiter dictum and my moments of actually putting words together well. There are people ALL OVER who are linked to me, linked to each other, like daisies in a chain. I started writing here 3 years ago and I had no idea what I was getting into. If I HAD known, I would have started...

THE WHOLE HEAD IS SICK AND THE WHOLE HEART FAINT

I’ve been sick as the proverbial dog all day. I slept most of the afternoon, but it hasn’t done anything to shake this headcold which has liquified my brain and replaced it with bucketfuls of phlegm. Ew. I’m so grossed out by the thought of bucketfuls of phlegm I can hardly stand myself. That wouldn’t even make a good name for a band. Being as how I haven’t been able to do more than drag my weary carcass from bed to sofa to bed, book in hand (did you doubt it? Sick as a dog, but I can still readโ€”I...
