RANTY

Ugh. I’m so glad I’m almost done with this part of the job. As VP Membership for the AWC, I not only have to call new members when they register, activate them and keep track of whether or not they’ve paid their dues but every year when our new season starts, and membership fees are due for everyone, which is the end of August…I have to keep track of ALL the payments (with the help of our excellently patient treasurer) and finally deactivate all those who have moved, are not renewing or who never answer. BOOK LIST

Just like last year, I mentioned that over the weekend we got the list of recommended books for the next batch of Bookworm picks to choose from. Last time it was 31 books long, this year, it was THIRTY-SIX. I had originally sent in 5 recommendations (same as last year) but then Megsie recommended a book to me that I thought sounded perfect for book group, so I sent it in as well. JUST THE WAY UH HUH UH HUH I LIKE IT

Totally got my relax on today, and it was a perfect Sunday for it. After a busy week of work with the majority of my colleagues on vacation, it was nice to have the downtime I needed. MOVING THINGS DOWN

I have to post something just to get the last post down out of sight a bit… I’m still thinking about it, worrying about it, and wondering how all that affects our AWC club account as well. AMERICAN IDIOTS

A woman I know, who is a member of the AWC here, despite having moved up north in Sweden several years ago, emailed me yesterday to tell me about something that had just happened to her asking if anyone else in the club was having the same issue. One of her banks, where she and her (also American) husband have their savings accounts, had written to them telling them that since they were American citizens, the bank was closing their account. PAVING THE ROAD TO HELL

Despite all my best intentions, I seem to be lucky if I manage to write a post once a week. I am so lame. We’ve been having torrential downpours here for over a week. MORE BOOK LISTS? YES, PLEASE!

The organizer for our AWC book group sent out an email yesterday asking everyone to send in their recommendations for next year’s book list. We all nominate 3-5 books and then, after we get the whole list, we vote on which ones we want to read, and the top 8-9 chosen are the next batch we read. NO EXCUSES

Did I mention I started walking again? Finally? Baby steps, really, but at least it’s progress. One of my colleagues, who is also a friend, is helping to motivate me, along with herself.
