I just got off the phone with my friend Kelly, who is incredibly lucky to be alive. She flipped her car on the highway last Friday and ended up upside down in the ditch with just scrapes on her arms and cracked ribs. She was talking on her cell phone, and in going to change lanes, realized someone was in her blind spot and swerved to avoid them, losing control of the car. Her husband heard the whole thing. Reason #34 Why Not to Have Kids Because you can’t coddle yourself when you’re sick and lay in bed all day and have people bring you orange juice, tissues and chicken soup, and you can’t sleep as much as you need to, and you can’t be alone in a quiet house. Especially when they’re sick, too. Although they’re on the borderline of being okay to go back to school/daycare and I, on the other hand, am on my DEATHBED. 🙂 feeling sorry for myself makes me feel a little better. 🙂

The day has not begun well. Both kids were up several times in the night coughing. I’ve definitely got a cold. Well, I learned today that I shouldn’t apply glue directly to embroidered paper as it discolors it. But I went ahead anyway with my page and hope it doesn’t make it look TOO weird. I’m still debating if there is something else I can apply to it to either cover or change the look of the area where the glue is so obvious. Maybe I can convince everyone that it just adds character. 🙂 Anyway, here’s page 6:

Woke up on my own, with no outside interference, at 8:30 a.m., and promptly went back to sleep until 10. Something is seriously wrong with our VCR and we’re thinking of having it put down. I’ve noticed it mostly with the American kid’s videos, but apparently it happens with European ones as well, as we just tried to watch a rental tape (Two Weeks Notice*) and the screen flickered annoyingly through the majority of it. It only stopped when Anders sat on the floor in front of it and stuck his hand inside (petting it soothingly, I assume). Maybe we should chuck it and buy a DVD, you say?
