IN PIE WE CRUST

We hosted Pie Night for the AIC Malmö last Saturday and it was a smash success. We had 25 people (including myself, Anders, and Martin), though originally 29 were supposed to show. We’ve had Pie Night at least 7 times now, if the oldest one on the AIC website in 2016 was actually the first. As usual, Anders made 2 taco pies at my request, and I made 2 fruit pizzas. We had 6 different savory pies for dinner including the taco paj: spanakopita (which was delish), chicken tamale pie, French leek quiche, shepherd’s pie, and steak & carrot pie....

DOMESTICALLY INCLINED

Last night, Otto the storm stormed through, with galeforce winds that made the house shake and rattle and all the vents whoosh every once in a while. By 10 pm, it sounded as if we had a freight train going by the house nonstop. I read in bed until close to midnight and it never really let up once. But this morning I woke to sunshine. A NEW MONTH, A NEW POST!

How can it be February already? I’m having flashbacks to my college roommate Chris’ F*ck February parties of the mid-90s, after we had moved to Chicago and were no longer sharing an apartment. She covered the floor of her apartment in beach sand, had blowup palm trees, and the required dress code was Hawaiian shirts and leis. Good times. RETROSPECTIVE

urprisingly, 2022 did not totally suck like the two years before it. Even though COVID finally visited us twice, no one was very ill, and Martin missed it completely. We had a couple of big milestone birthdays, with Anders turning 60 and Martin turning 25, and 2 big, very fun trips, to Rome, and to Bornholm. Mostly, life continues with the usual bumps and ups and downs. I’ve taken 2 weeks of vacation, here at the end of the year, and today is the last day if you don’t count the New Year’s weekend. IT’S LIKE 2003 ALL OVER AGAIN!

I can’t remember the last time I was this excited and satisfied about blogging. RETROSPECTIVE

t’s been another crazy pandemic year and it’s still ongoing so I don’t expect a lot from 2022 at this point. We are all managing to stay healthy, even though as I write this Anders is coughing. Both he and Karin came down with colds over Christmas week, but have tested negative multiple times and he’s at the very tail end of his. CAN YOU COMMENT?

I haven’t been getting many comments lately. I understand from at least two people who read my blog, but who don’t have Livejournal accounts, that they are no longer able to comment and get an error message claiming they are “banned from commenting”. WALKING ON ICE, WALKING IN SUNSHINE

Unprecendented amounts of sunshine so far this week, and I’m loving it. But it’s cold…brrrr, is it cold. So cold that when I went to scrape the ice off the car windows, I discovered most of it was on the INSIDE. So cold that I am able to let out my inner dragon, blowing iced breath and roaring under it.
