IT’S LIKE 2003 ALL OVER AGAIN!

I can’t remember the last time I was this excited and satisfied about blogging. After the debacle with LJ, I talked to Russell (my all-things-tech-guru) and decided it was time to move on up the road. I’ve been writing on Livejournal since August 6, 2003…nearly 20 years. I suppose I could have waited until next August to make it an even 20, but I am nothing if not impatient.

Because commenting wasn’t working for people without LJ accounts, which is many, if not most, of my friends and family, and no info on when or if it would be fixed, plus the fact that pretty much no one is writing over there anymore anyway, I decided, with Russell’s recommendation to jump ship to WordPress, and ta-dah! Here we are!

Russell imported my entire Livejournal, all 19 years, 2843 journal entries, and 1748 photos, and created my database and site on WordPress. I imported my LJ userpics (though I may decide to ditch many of them), and then I did some searching and found this theme that I thought would work for me, and after activating it, I’ve spent the last couple of days, including a LONG 2-hour (!) phone call with Russell customizing it and fixing things so that it looks and behaves how I want it to. I am SUPER pleased.

It’s still a work in progress. The menu pages aren’t final and I need to add a contact page, and a few other tweaks, but by and large, it’s my blog, my obiter dictum, fresh and new and ready for me to get writing. Now if I could just encourage everyone I used to read to start blogging again! Isn’t it time? haha!

Oh! And I have to invite people since no one knows this blog exists yet. And I have to post on Livejournal to say I’m done there and provide the link here. I’m allllllmost ready to do that. But this here is my first official post on my new, actual, bloggity blog. A good start to my summer!
