TO-DO TO-DO DOBIDO

I probably shouldn’t be sitting down to write anything here, since I’m not really in the mood, and don’t know what I want to write about. It’s a kind of blah day, partly because I woke up with a headache, got up and took a pill, and went back to bed, and didn’t wake up until SUPER late. It’s gray and rainy and I don’t have any plans until later this afternoon, apart from finishing my book.

At 4 I’m calling my mom and sister to plan my trip for the spring. I started working on the flight booking last week but was so busy at work that it was hard to fit it in and I kept having to rethink my dates and plans. Now, I think, I know what I want to do, so I just need to coordinate the part that involves my family, and I can get the trip booked. Hoping to talk to Karin this evening as well, though Martin is complaining because every time we talk to her, he’s been at work (which he is this time, too).

I wrote up a little to-do list the other day, which is mostly Christmas stuff. It’s completely separate from the “big stuff” to-do list in the kitchen, which contains things like “renovate the kitchen” and “paint the garage”. This one goes like this, and it’s usually the same every year:

  • Xmas letter
  • Xmas cards
  • Xmas tree
  • Xmas cookies
  • Finish Xmas shopping

I have already started on the first two, and we are planning to get the tree next weekend, since this one went by faster than expected, and it felt a little too early to do it this weekend anyway. I usually do cookies quite close to Christmas, and because I have the week off before, I can probably get those done then, as well as finishing the shopping.

Sarah and I Facetimed on Amazon a couple of days ago, and got my mom’s presents, and I got Sarah’s as well. We already have the kids sorted, so I really just have Anders, and to check stocking stuffers for him and Martin. Today, I also need to go through the presents I have for Martin and get his birthday presents wrapped.

Camilla and I went to a Maker’s market yesterday, which was really nice, and there were several new vendors there that weren’t at the first one earlier this fall. I bought a bracelet, a pretty little ceramic mug, and a present for Martin. Then we went back to Camilla’s place, and started cooking. Debbie arrived about half an hour later, and we sat down to eat just before 6 pm. Dinner was amazing: a root vegetable casserole that had a cover of stewed mushrooms and ovens, all of it drenched in cream. To go with it, I had sautéed chicken strips with salt and pepper and Camilla made haricots verts. It was delicious. Then we spent the rest of the evening chatting and catching up, and it was lovely. I’ve been lucky my whole life in the friends I have made and kept.

Just now, I read the long newsy 3page letter that Becky sent me last Christmas, and was feeling ashamed that I haven’t written her back, though I thought I had. She sends me a letter like that every year, and I love it. Usually, I send back a long mid-year letter, but because it’s still on my desk, it makes think I never did, despite all my good intentions. This year has sped by, so fast, as per usual, but it feels even faster than before.

Now, I´m getting off the computer to write a few cards and then go deal with presents before I call Sarah and mom. Hope you are having a good weekend, if you are reading this. Hope you are having a good one, even if you aren’t!
