OPPOSITE OF SLUG

If I was away from LJ for several days some years ago, it could take me hours to scroll through and read everything on my friends list and RSS feed. These days, it’s a matter of minutes. Nice on the one hand, but sad on the other. It’s been a busy weekend in the middle of 2 busy weeks at the beginning of a busy month. On Friday I went to see Top Hat at the Malmö Opera House with my friend Debbie. She and the Wonders had given me a gift certificate when I had that big birthday a...

BUSY BEE

Crazy season is starting. I can feel things revving up. I have a full day tomorrow that includes meetings at work and outside of it, plus a doctor’s appointment. Tuesday is a goodbye party for an American colleague who is moving back home, and Wednesday Barky gets beautiful again (thank goodness). Friday, Camilla is spending the night as we are leaving super early in the morning to spend the day in Gothenburg at the Book Fair where we have tickets to see Laini Taylor speak twice! I hope she won’t think it’s weird when I come up to say hi...

ALL THE BUSY

I’ve been rather neglectful of my online life, but I’ve been so BUSY. Work is back to crazy-level, and we just moved offices. Our new space is really big and full of space and light and we are all pleased with it. The only bummer is that only a few of our teams are left from Corporate Marketing on our floor. All the rest of our department has moved across the street. I haven’t even been over there yet to check it out; will have to make time for that ASAP. Anders is in Italy for 2 weeks…well, it’s already...

WHEW!

Crazy week from hell is finally over and I can enjoy the sudden summer that has been visited upon us. Monday was our 19th wedding anniversary…next year is 20! TWENTY YEARS. That’s crazy. We didn’t do much, and didn’t even exchange gifts, but Anders cooked a delicious dinner 🙂 Tuesday and Wednesday were high school graduation parties for the sons of friends. We all went to the first one on Tuesday but it was just me on Wednesday at my friend Debbie’s, whose son Jacob is only one year older than Martin. Next year it’s our turn: EEK. Nearly everyone...

WHEW!

The weekend is half over and I am going to need another day, at least, to recuperate from it and the previous week. The kickoff performance went great, despite a last-minute panic when one of our team members didn’t show up. He was there during the day, for all the presentations, but after we wrapped that up and left to go to the place where we were having the evening activities, something happened and he had to leave, and never made it back. So we were left without our Uncle Sam. 🙁 Luckily, someone had the bright idea to ask...

MOVING THINGS DOWN

I have to post something just to get the last post down out of sight a bit… I’m still thinking about it, worrying about it, and wondering how all that affects our AWC club account as well. Good thing I color my hair, or you’d see how much grayer Barky is from this stuff, in just the past few days. Bought a pumpkin today, a nice Halloweenie one, kind of tall. I told the kids they were in charge of carving it. We’ll see if it actually happens before Halloween on Friday. The neighbors sent out the letter about trick-or-treating...

NEVER ENOUGH

All weekend I’ve been planning to edit and post photos from our trip to Toronto (almost wrote “trip to vacation”) but the weekend has been so busy that suddenly it’s nearly bedtime on Sunday evening and the farthest I’ve managed to get is opening Photoshop. Jet lag seems to be pretty much gone…just the dregs of it left, but that could be regular afternoon fatigue. I can’t believe I have to work 5-day weeks from now until eternity. We had all these short weeks in spring; it was crazy! Like 6 in a row or something and now? Nothing until...

BLUE SKIES & LONG WEEKENDS

O! Long weekend, how I am happy to see you! It’s Wednesday evening, a half-day today that ended even earlier since I had a doctor’s appointment to get my hurty shoulder checked out (inflammation, referral to naprapat, possible cortisone injection if that doesn’t work) at 11:30. The wind was blowing hard this morning but now it’s cool and still and the sky is so blue it hurts…not a cloud in sight. We have no plans for the weekend to go anywhere or do anything special…though some of us have things we want to do. Anders is going biking with friends...

ERIN GO BRAGH!

Today was a holiday (Twelfth Night/Epiphany) and I had hoped to get outside for a bit but it was pouring down rain most of the day, so I stayed inside and worked on projects instead. Anders removed the lights from the trees and took them apart. You should have seen the circle of green needles on the floor in the playroom! An inch deep! It took me nearly all day to pack up the tree ornaments, but I finally got it done, and then promptly covered the dining room table again with DVDs. I want to inventory what we have,...

TODAY IS THE TOMORROW YOU WORRIED ABOUT YESTERDAY

OMG two posts in a row! Apocalypse! I figure I can’t get bummed out and upset about the fact that no one blogs much anymore if I am just as guilty. Plus, I feel like writing, and whether or not I have anything to write about: here I am. I have to tell you a story and you have to promise not to laugh. Because I am really, really embarrassed about it. In fact, I think it’s good enough to possibly bump one of my top three most embarrassing moments off the list. Go ahead, go click that link and...
