BUSY BEE BEATS SUPER SLUG

Aren’t you glad for weekends? I am. It’s so necessary to have a couple of days of downtime, where I can do what I need to do, whether that is relaxing and being a total slug or getting all kinds of things done and being a busy bee or some sort of mixture of the two. That is often the case, actually.

Today was beautiful, sunny and blue, but very cold. I was productive all weekend; the last load of laundry is in the dryer, the house is clean, the advent lights are down and put away, the plants are watered, and I called both my mom and sister to get some of the summer planning logistics started. We know our approximate departure and arrival dates and the date of the “big” party, assuming that my brother confirms our plans.

We can’t actually buy our plane tickets until mid-March earliest due to the fact that we have to wait for Martin’s new US passport…which we have an appointment for at the Embassy in Copenhagen in mid-February. It then gets sent to Sweden and then to the US to be processed. Their website says 4-5 weeks but I’m hoping for 4 since I don’t want to wait much longer than that to get our tickets, especially since I think we’re pushing it as is. Ticket prices go up so much in the summer. Plus we are considering flying into one city and out from another, which always jacks the price up as well. Urgh.

I just had to interrupt this post because Martin called to ask if I could come pick him and his friend up in Södra Sandby as they were arriving on the bus in 15 minutes and her father, who was supposed to pick them up, had gone too early, gotten mad that he had to wait and gone home without them. It’s MINUS 11 DEGREES out. WTH? I am a little boggled by that. -11C is 12F for those of you reading along at home. REALLY cold. I almost never turn the butt-heat on in the car because it always makes me feel like I peed myself, but I was glad of it tonight. What I would have been gladder for was a heated steering wheel. Brrrr!!! Freezy hands!

There are so many things to look forward to, coming up soon! This week I have bookworms, and next week I have something EVERY day and night including WW, our first choir session, the first AWC meeting of 2016, a Creative Day seminar, our corporate marketing kick-off, the jewelry swap/shop and a night at the opera (Turandot)! Whew!
