COMING UP AND GOING DOWN

Anders comes home tonight, and I am SO glad. Single parenting is HARD. I don’t feel like I’ve had a moment to relax or slow down for the entire 2 weeks he’s been gone, but we’ve managed nearly everything and the house hasn’t fallen apart and the kids haven’t died of starvation or anything, so, Yay me! I was at Martin’s school tonight for a parent meeting. The first half was about the trip to London that Martin’s class won. They are going the first week of November, for 3 days, and I get to go, too! I haven’t been...

FOILED, TOILED, COILED

I’m beginning to think the fates are moving against us in the matter of going home to the States for Christmas. First we had to wait forever to get approval on Anders’ vacation time, then we tried 3x to buy tickets online that were apparently NOT EVEN AVAILABLE, then we had to wait another week to get permission to take the kids out of school a couple of days and NOW I discover that Karin’s American passport expired in February! AAUGH. Anders is in Italy for 2 weeks and every single day has got something scheduled. I had to write...

SPRING FLING

It’s the first of May! Here in Europe and in a large part of the world, that means Labor Day. However, since it’s a day off, and yesterday, being a “pinch day” was also a day off, in fact for us it was a NON-labor day. It’s been a nice long weekend, with lots of sunshine and walking the loaner-dog. I had a to-do list of about 20 things that I divided up over the 4 days, which meant nothing was stressful and it included things that I’ve been meaning to do for ages, like iron those 3 tablecloths from...

GO GO GO GRABOTE!

Whoa! Where did the week go? Why does this always happen to me? 😀 As glad as I am to be back to regular routine, I think I’d managed to forget how it grabs you and speeds you along without giving you any time to get your arms and legs inside the ride. What with the crazy busy at work all day and some activity/errand/to-do every evening, 7 days fly by before I can take a breath and realize it’s the weekend again. And too soon, another new week. No wonder Christmas seems to be constant…it’s already the end of...

JUST ANOTHER MANIC …WAIT, WHAT DAY IS THIS?

Last week was crazy, this week is, if anything crazier. I feel like I go go go from 6:15 in the morning when the alarm shrills to 11:30 pm when I finally get my brain to turn off and actually fall asleep. Work is nuts, life is nuts. Am I nuts yet? It sure feels like it. Yesterday was supposed to be the only day that we didn’t have something in the evening, but it suddenly filled up with unexpected stuff and I did an excellent imitation of a chicken running around with my head cut off only I wasn’t...

DRIVE-BY POSTING

I am breathless with the amount of things I have to do lately. It’s non-stop go go go from the moment my alarm shrills in my ear until the moment I switch off the light and burrow down beneath the covers again. Every day is filled; work is crazy busy and the evenings are no better. Something every minute that is calling, pushing, pulling, demanding my attention and my time. I just wrote out a list of things I’ve done today, mostly to impress you, then realized no one really cares except me, what I’ve accomplished on my to-do list,...

HOLIDAYS, CASTLES, ANNIVERSARIES, SHOWERS & A QUESTION

It’s gone a week, nearly, and suddenly it’s June. And I’m beginning to have that panicky feeling of “where has the year gone?” It’s nearly half over! Eeek! Christmas will be here before you know it! Haaa! Anders comes home tomorrow from his 3-weeks of jaunting. He’s home for a week, then gone for a week then gone for the weekend, then gone for a week. THEN he’s on vacation, and we still haven’t bought tickets for our trip to Iceland. I don’t even know if we can really afford it. There seems to be no end to the things...

WHERE IT WENT AND WHERE IT GOES

Oh my goodness, where did the week go? It went into single-parenting, crazy busy work-ness, losing Karin in the dark trying to find the place she was practicing in Lund. It went to a planning meeting, pizza 3x in a row, a family birthday party (Anders’ niece), phone calls, sunshine and a yard full of pheasants and jackdaws eating the birdseed. It went to working from home as much as possible, paying bills, translation work, AWC web work, work work work. It went to grocery shopping and an emergency room visit for Karin who busted up 2 fingers at soccer...

DECISIONS, DECISIONS

Honestly, I don’t know where the times goes. I could have sworn I just posted but when I look at my little calendar I see it was last Tuesday! 5 whole days ago! And I suspect it will be another 5 days before I post again as this week is just NUTS. I have something scheduled every day, beyond the usual work work work. Tomorrow we have Parent Meetings at both Martin and Karin’s schools, so we can’t go together. I’m going to Martin’s, and Anders is going to Karin’s, but I really wish we could both get the same...

WE INTERRUPT THIS BROADCAST

I only have one more day of photos from our Italian adventure to edit and post, but I don’t feel like it right now. I’m feeling a bit disappointed (disappointed!) (does anyone else hear Kevin Kline’s voice yelling that every time they use the word?) (No? Just me?) with myself over having posted so very little this past couple of months. Really, I could do better, couldn’t I? I remember the days when I posted all the freaking time. Yeah, glad that’s over with too, but honestly, a LITTLE more effort would be appreciated. Up duff, Slaughter-Ek, etc. It’s just...
