I DO AND DO AND DO

This has been crazy week. Something every single evening: Monday – WW, where I expressed disappointment that my scale at home in the morning showed I had lost more than the scale at WW in the evening and was told that “you can’t trust your scale at home”. Which? What? Why not, WW? SO YOU CAN GET PAID MORE? Give me a break. (it was because it was morning, that’s why, and I was getting ready to shower and hadn’t eaten anything, so there) Tuesday – AWC monthly meeting with 2 guest speakers and the annual holiday cookie exchange, which...

SUM SUM SUMMER

Got home from the week in Germany last night, sailing up through the country like we had jet propulsion, in stark contrast to our crawling, staggering, stuttered drive down. What took us (and should take us) about 11.5 hours including the ferry and stops on the way back took a horrendous 16.5 hours on the way down, thanks to massive, unending construction and unbelievable traffic. Between Hamburg and Hannover on the way down, while I was at the wheel, 30 kilometers took us nearly 3 hours. ON THE AUTOBAHN. We had a lovely week with my brother, Simone, the boys,...

THERE! THAT OUGHT TO HOLD YA

Gah. Time goes by too quickly. I think about writing all the time, but then I sit down to do something simple and my arm shoots pain and I give up and don’t stay here long enough to write anything. I suspect this is what aging is going to be about for me: falling apart, pain and doctor appointments. And who wants to read about that? NOT ME. Anyway, we bought our tickets to the US for the summer, or for at least 3 very expensive weeks of it. For Karin’s and my round-trip tickets and Martin’s 1-way ticket, it...

UPDATEY

Things Karin was this weekend: a zipperhead on Friday and 1/2 of an Oreo cookie on Saturday. I asked her why her friends always have Halloween parties a week early and she didn’t know. Maybe because the school break starts next week and a lot of people are already gone at the weekend. Martin leaves next Monday, only a week and then he is gone for 6-7 weeks. He will be in Peru until December 10 and then is going to try to change his return ticket to fly to Toronto on December 10 and then stay in Detroit with...

THERE I GO AGAIN

It’s been another crazy busy weekend in the string of crazy busy weekends that make up my life. On Friday, I had another (!) Wonders dinner, this time without Angie, at Kelly’s home. I joked the since we were missing “won”, we were only the Drrrrs. It was not the most fun evening, since we mostly talked about our anxieties over the upcoming election and divorce/custory horrors. The next time we’ll see each other is Thanksgiving here in Flyinge, but that’s not until the beginning of December (our date is late this year due to Anders’ work travel schedule). Last...

EVERY DAY IS A WINDING ROAD

Life is just so damn busy all the time! Even when I have days to do “nothing”, I have to wrap it in apostrophes because it’s never nothing, is it? There is always something. And if not for me, then for someone that I have to deal with, help, find time for, whatever. I’m not complaining, actually, it’s just how things are, and I know that autumn is always crazy season. Work is especially crazy right now, and we’re short-staffed this week which isn’t helping. I spent much of my day running around, feeling like a chicken with my head...

WELL HELLO THERE!

Did you miss me? I missed me! I missed you, too! It’s hard to believe that it’s been a month away and now we’re back. It was full on summer in the States but back home in Sweden, I feel we’ve landed in the early onset of autumn and I have to say I am SO GLAD. I never do well in heat and humidity and we had enough of it this past month to last me a lifetime. There’s a lot of reasons why I love living in Sweden, but cool weather and no humidity trumps just about everything....

ALL AT ONCE

I am the lamest blogger that ever lived. Okay, not really. There are lamer bloggers out there (naming no names). I guess when you are a blogger who is no longer really blogging, you are an epilogue. There have been lots of things to write about, but they are all happening at once which makes sitting down and finding words harder than you would think. This past weekend was Swedish Mother’s Day. I was given flowers (peonies!), a Pandora bead for my bracelets of a lion with a crown and a little bag of my favorite dark-chocolate-covered cherries. In the...

BUSY BEE BEATS SUPER SLUG

Aren’t you glad for weekends? I am. It’s so necessary to have a couple of days of downtime, where I can do what I need to do, whether that is relaxing and being a total slug or getting all kinds of things done and being a busy bee or some sort of mixture of the two. That is often the case, actually. Today was beautiful, sunny and blue, but very cold. I was productive all weekend; the last load of laundry is in the dryer, the house is clean, the advent lights are down and put away, the plants are...

THE WAITING IS THE HARDEST PART

1 day until the light starts returning. 3 days until vacation starts. 5 days until Christmas (4 if you’re a Swede). 5 days until the very last episode of Downton Abbey. 6 days until we leave for Germany! 11 days until the end of 2015. 25 days until Martin stops annoying me with detailed playback of AHS Hotel episodes. 39 days until choir starts. 48 days until the first Melodifestival competition. 82 days until Pie Night! 164 days until our 20th wedding anniversary. 171 days until Martin graduates high school. 194 days until our summer celebration trip to the US....
