I AM NOT A BLOGGER, I JUST PLAY ONE ON MEME

Things I am tired of: darkness rain cold hands my daughter’s whining Things that never seem to end: laundry my to-do list at work winter the weight struggle Things I want to eat but don’t have in the house: tempura maki reese’s fast break bars my dad’s chervil soup (I could make it, though) pie Things that made me laugh today: an email from a colleague after I solved a problem for him, that said in huge letters: I LOVE YOU!!!!! my son’s verbose and swenglish explanation of a game in gym class called spookball the outfit my daughter had...

BE LIONS ROARING THROUGH THE FORESTS OF KNOWLEDGE

I was a bit flabbergasted and then completely bowled over today to get a message from my friend Marilyn telling me she’d given me a ROAR award. This is a new award to me, I hadn’t heard of it before. Being the recipient of A ROAR FOR POWERFUL WORDS award comes with some stipulations. I am supposed to share 3 writing tips and then pass on the award to three more bloggers worthy of recognition and esteem. Frankly, this sounds like a meme to me. Curious to find out where this award originated, I started following links back. Quite quickly...

WHAT EVERY WELL-ROUNDED LIBRARY NEEDS

I realize this is really bad timing, judging from the tumbleweeds currently blowing through my own wallet, but I can finally make mention here, since I’ve just verified that all my family members have received and unwrapped their Christmas presents. Remember all that editing I was so mysteriously working on over the course of the past year? It was this: lizardek’s obiter dictum — best of 2003-2006 And if there is anyone who just can’t get enough (and my jaw will permanently dislocate if so), there is also The Complete Works (to date). I know these are not really of...

PICK ONE, THEN COMMENT! COMMENT SOME MORE! I LOVE IT!

I wonder what else I could write about besides BREAKFAST that would get so many comments. Candy favorites? Sex positions? Ways to add extra time to your day? The best book you EVER read, EVER? Nah. Bacon and cinnamon sugar toast and English muffins and filmjölk would probably top them all. Total monster drama day today. I’m wiped. I fucking HATE drama. Hate it. With a capital F. Tomorrow Anders comes home and I’m taking the kids to sushi. Also buying stuffing at the American store. Take that, drama! I get knocked down, but I get up again, you ain’t...

THIS JUST IN

Who’s on Facebook? And why? What are you doing there? Do we all really have this much time to fart around on the internet? Good lord, what did we DO with ourselves back in the dark ages? Remember board games? I miss those. *** Do you have “pet names” for things in your house or food or stuff that you refer to when your kids or your significant other are around by words or names other than their real ones? The kids call my imported sugar-free cherry Kool-Aid Mama’s Saft (Mama’s juice). And we call summer sausage “pricky korv” because...

FULL OF BEANS

I signed up for twitter. I must be mad. Now what do I do with it? Do people answer me on it? Do they just read it and nod their heads or squinch up their noses? Here’s a question for you: How many online communities/presences do you have? Can you keep up with them all? How, MY GOD, how do you do it?? Karin is now the proud owner (and wearer) of an over-sized karate outfit in which she reminds me of a rather sharp-cornered, belted schmoo. I have work to be doing. Why aren’t I doing it? My walk...

UP TO MY ASS IN ALLIGATORS

It’s not that I’m not in the mood to write or that I don’t have things to write about…I’m just SWAMPED. I’ve got projects coming out my ears. Even though we had no plans this weekend and I DID sleep in like a total zombie this morning after a completely crazy week, I still seem to have every moment full with things to do and it’s leaving little time for introspection. What’s… a household chore you don’t mind doing? worse than looking foolish, for you? the kind of insect you catch under a cup and carefully put outside instead of...

HERE, HAVE A BULLET: THEY TASTE GREAT AND THEY’RE LESS FILLING!

Anders made the same dish for his birthday dinner tonight that he made for me the first time he cooked me dinner 13 years ago. Shrimp with mushrooms, red peppers, cheese and cream baked in the oven and served over rice. YUMMO. I still haven’t gotten a call back from the girlfriend who had her baby on Thursday, though I left a message days ago. Should I be worried or should I assume that they are just blissed out on That Newborn Smell? Confirmation was received today that 4 weeks in the States didn’t wreck my diet healthy eating plan...
