I am awakened several times in the night by my bladder, as I’ve mentioned before. Last night, the second time I got up, even without my glasses, I could see that it had snowed. Everything was white outside, white everywhere. Blurrily white, since no glasses, but still. It figures because I just put my snowboots away (again). Every time I put them away, it snows. I should know better. But it’s all gone again now, since the temperatures were several degrees upward of 0. And raining instead. Even though we’re all sick of winter, I think I’d rather have snow than this endless rain.
Yesterday was weird. I had pain in my sinuses all morning and felt weird after lunch, but not exactly sick, so I kept working. We had a monthly meeting at 1:30 pm that I didn’t want to miss, but halfway through it, I suddenly thought I was going to throw up. I left abruptly and went to the bathroom around the corner from the conference room, but was fine after I got there, though I still felt weird. So I ran upstairs after the meeting actually ended 10 minutes later, grabbed my coat and laptop and bolted.
I called my manager on the way out to explain. All evening my stomach was bubbly and gassy but I didn’t feel sick. This morning, I STILL felt a little off, so I stayed home and worked instead of trying to force myself into the office. All the meetings I had were fine to be online for. By the last one at 3 pm I was feeling back to normal, and now I’ve eaten dinner and am hoping nothing starts bubbling again.
One meeting was with my manager, to get confirmation on my annual raise, which was decent and nothing to complain about, plus some nice things my manager said about me and my work. The next meeting was my team’s daily one to go through incoming jobs and hash over any issues. Then I had a quick meeting with one of my teammates and a project submitter where I squashed most of her off-brand ideas and guided her into understanding how to comply and still get something she’d be happy with. And the last one was with our US design team and I ran the meeting since my manager couldn’t be there, and went through all the latest updates to our graphic ID, which went really well. In between, lots of work and finalizing things, so it was a good work day even though I was at home not feeling 100%.
Now I’ve done the grocery shopping, picked up the mail (my blog book for 2023 arrived, the fattest yet!), and am writing this post and listening to Spotify’s Discover Weekly. I also read the news and was very pleased to see that a federal court has handed down a unanimous decision that Trump cannot claim presidential immunity for his actions regarding election subversion.
Busy rest of the week coming up: massage tomorrow and buying plane tickets to the US, Matnatten in Malmö with the AIC and Anders on Thursday, an AIC lunch on Friday as well as dinner and a movie with Martin, who is coming home to collect boxes and packing stuff, and then I’ll take him back to Malmö on Saturday and go have dinner with Debbie and Camilla. I wish weekends were 3 days long.
