Once the tree is up it really starts to feel like Christmas is coming. We went this morning out to Sjöbo and found another perfect tree at the same place Anders went last year. It’s up in the stand now and resting a bit before Anders puts the lights on. Then I can start decorating tonight, and continue tomorrow, though I’m a little worried I won’t get it done before Wednesday.
Tomorrow Anders is going with his sister to his uncle’s house to bring him a Christmas flower and have fika, then he is stopping at Martin’s to help with a little repair job, and then he has to rush home to get me, because we are going to julbord at Sankt Markus Vinkällare in Malmö with some AIC friends. I love their julbord, and am excited about going because I haven’t been since 2019, before the pandemic hit. They actually went bankrupt and closed after the first 1.5 years of the pandemic, but were able to open up again this year.
I have our work Christmas party on Monday and then Tuesday is my last day of work. I actually have a massage scheduled on Tuesday so I have to leave early, but by then I should be done with everything that needs to be done before my vacation anyway. I’m picking up my mom and Danely (and Martin as he is going to the airport with me) in the afternoon on Wednesday: YAY!
But the one major thing I haven’t managed yet is cookie baking. I was planning to do some today but haven’t been motivated though I might make the sugar cookie dough tonight and just put it in the fridge for later. I haven’t even decided for sure which cookies I will make, though more rice krispie holly bars have been requested. Besides frosted sugar cookies, I will probably do some iced peppermint cookies, and maybe some chocolate chip cookies, or gingersnaps. If we don’t do cookies until my mom is here, maybe I can talk her into helping make sandwich creme cookies which are the best. Maybe Lacy Crisps if I get really motivated. I have so many good cookie recipes, but since I’m not really supposed to be eating sugar, I need to take it easy. 🙂 I’m giving 2 plates of cookies away, which will help, as I’ve been instructed to take Karin’s girlfriend and Martin’s boyfriend both a plate!
The holiday letter is done and printed, and all the Christmas cards are written, stuffed, addressed, and ready to be mailed. Might go do that tomorrow while Anders is gone and get baking supplies. I’ve been wrapping presents on and off all day as well, so it’s very festive around here, even though I still have a ton to wrap after I get the tree decorated!
