IT WOULD BE AN UPDATE IF I WAS ACTUALLY UP

We went to see Tangled tonight, partly because I’d been “boring” all day and Karin and Sydney and probably Martin, who didn’t actually say so, like his sister, who reiterated it several times, were BORED, MOM, and because I had forgotten all about Melodifestivalen starting this evening, but I think we got the better end of the deal because the movie was AWESOME. I admit to having a really soft spot for Disney when they get it right, and with John Lasseter, they REALLY get it right.

At the end of the movie, we stayed to watch the end of the credits, standing at the end of the row of seats and at one point I looked at Martin, who was standing next to me, and he looked so very much like Joe Cool that I was completely taken aback. His hair was all spiked up, and he was still wearing the black Ray-Ban-ish 3D glasses and he had a lollipop stick jutting from the corner of his mouth. Hee! Wish I could have snapped a picture.

Sydney & London the dog are staying with me this weekend because Sydney’s parents (my cousin Cate and her husband Magnus) are in London the city for their anniversary. Yesterday my good friend Camilla was here was us, too and though we didn’t do anything special, I made a great dinner (chicken with corn, asparagus, kohlrabi and Come & Get it Sauce over rice) and we watched Tarzan in the new entertainment center that used to be our playroom. Then Camilla and I stayed up late talking, and I REALLY wish she would move back to Sweden for awhile. She’s not the only friend I wish would move back to Sweden. Or the only friend I wish would just move TO Sweden, but her whirlwind once or twice a year visits will just have to do me, I guess.

Anders is up north skiing for the weekend with work colleagues, but he’s called every day. Today Karin and I went to visit her first choice for schools for next year and she seems pretty set on this one. It seemed fine to me, too, but I’m insisting she visit at least one other one to make sure she has a choice. There were 4 other kids (all boys) from her current class that were also there for the open house, so I’m optimistic about carpooling possibilities.

The only bummer about missing Melodifestivalen is that there’s no re-run on Swedish TV until 11:30 at night tomorrow (which, DUH, TV1, what’s up with that?) so we’ll have to watch it online, if it’s available.

The last couple of weeks have been just crazy busy, especially at work and I see no end in sight. Each weekend, all I want to do is collapse and sleep and sleep and sleep. After we got home from the school open house and I fixed the kids lunch and we went for a walk with the dog, I laid down “to read” and woke up 2 hours later and had to force myself to get up instead of rolling over and continuing my nap right through into bedtime. So, now I’m off to bed in the hopes that I’ll get to sleep in some tomorrow and then be able to face next week with a relatively clear mind and more energy. Wish me luck!
