ONE NATION

I didn’t say anything about 9/11 on September 11th this year. Partly because I wasn’t near a computer all day and so couldn’t put my thoughts into words and partly because I was crazy busy with an all-day conference which I was helping to organize and there were many things going on, pulling me in different directions and demanding my attention, and partly because I honestly feel that whatever I could say wouldn’t sound pithy or be comforting or have any real value to add to the world-at-large and the opinions out there regarding what happened 3 years ago in...

FLOP, AS IN COLLAPSE, NOT AS IN FAILURE

Am bone-tired. In a good way. The Regional went off with a bang and succeeded beyond our wildest expectations. We rocked. And the…ahem…entertainment did a fine job, despite my 9th-hour freakout. The party was a blast and the food was indescribably good. The conference was full of entertaining, informative, inspirational and thought-provoking speakers. I’ve never been so proud and impressed by the women of my club. My 4 houseguests, including the wonderful reebert who is as charming in person as she is online, were delightful and easy to please and everything went great, except for the gigantic spewing forth of...

WERE YOU TALKING TO ME?!

The gorgeousness that is the weather here in Sweden is burning so bright, my brain hurts. Yesterday I talked to my brother on the phone, while in a cloud of interview euphoria, and he mentioned that he hurt his knee playing baseball, and I mentioned in a family email that I hoped it felt better and he replied that I healed the knee last night just talking to him on the phone because it’s all better now but his ankle, which was the body part actually hit by the baseball still hurts like hell, and I WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT PAYING...

CLOUD 9

Not A Good Sign: The first words out of the manager’s mouth were “I don’t want you for this Marketing Assistant job. You are WAY too over-qualified.”

WEBLIRIUM TREMENS

Yesterday I wasn’t getting any LJ comments, and then in the evening I could not get online at all, and let me tell you, it was ugly. PALPITATIONS. EXCESSIVE CLICKING & MOUSE ABUSE. HAND-WRINGING. SHAKING. ANGER, WILD SOBBING. hahahaha! Then I took a chill pill and went to bed. Today, LJ appears to be down almost completely. I can’t get in at all, due to maintenance which the support page says is supposed to last “10-15 minutes” but which by my clock is going on 2 hours. God knows if this entry will post when I try. More and bigger...

IN WHICH A RAT’S ASS IS BRIEFLY MENTIONED

No new jobs to apply for today. Reached that conclusion after 1 hour at “work.” Guess it’s websurfing and blogging for the rest of the day. suck Actually, I have stuff to do, it’s just not stuff I care about at the moment. Karin and I went for a walk last night after dinner. Anders and Martin had also left the house about 5 minutes before we did, as Anders needed to deliver a notebook of information on Scouts to the other father that is going to be a co-leader. So, as we came around the corner of the daycare,...

BUTTERLIFES AND BETTER LIVES

Where is everybody? Is there a party going on somewhere to which I was not invited? har! Hey! Guess what! I have ANOTHER interview! That makes 2! I’m having mixed feelings about telling you all, because what if I don’t get either one of them? Then I have to tell you I suck and you will all feel obligated to *hug* me quite a lot, and I’ll feel better for it, but I still won’t have a job. Anywho, I have another interview and that makes me happy. Also, my brother got a job! Which must be a harbinger of...

KITTEN FIX

I set off into a sky serrated blue, lilac, neon pink cut with the low blaze of the setting sun. Crickets are speed chirping a ticking harmony. A cluster of gnats hangs glowing in the sunlit air, sparkling and shifting; it appears I’ve just missed someone beaming back up. Heading down the snail trail there is a virtual light at the end of the overgrown emerald-shrouded tunnel. The sun peeks in, illuminating the foliage in sharp relief. The air is redolent with leaf mold, stagnating creekbed, and the shit of small dogs. The insect-eaten lace of summer’s fare lines the...

BUSY BEE

Lots to do this morning and today. Having Friday off and having it be such a lovely weekend has really energized me. I’ve gotten SO MUCH DONE! I love that feeling of accomplishment! The kids are singing at the top of their lungs while they’re cleaning up their designated tasks in the playroom. I have a medium-sized to-do list for today, but I’ve already got several things crossed off…and brownies are filling the entire house with their chocolatey delicious scent, baking in the oven. YUM! Martin licked the spoon, and Karin looked on in disgust because she dislikes chocolate. *boggle*...

SUNNY DAY PLAYTIME

Favorite Phrases: Sooo….what’s your point? Liar liar pants on fire! …and then, rub my feet! The sky I can see from the window is blue. Ander is gone for an overnight hiking trip and the only thing on the schedule today is drop off and pick up Martin for a birthday party. My plan is to drag the computer out onto the porch, wrap myself in mosquito net to foil the damned ARMIES OF FLIES, and work. Barring that, since I’m pretty sure the extension cords are only 6 meters long, I plan to take long breaks from computer schtuff...
