ROAD TO HELL

I haven’t written about the hay bales and how they glow like giant golden random bocce balls in the fields. Or how the fields themselves have gone from rippling oceans of thigh-high grasses to overturned, churned chocolate earth. I haven’t written about how time has speeded up again and thrown me full-speed into autumn even though the trees have yet to turn. I haven’t written about the rosy color across Karin’s cheeks from days spent on the soccer field and the funny conversations Martin and I keep having. I haven’t written about how upset I was over the hackity haircut...

Someone going on sick leave because they just don’t want to deal with their boss anymore More poles to make the road narrower and cause cars to slow down even MORE on the road between Flyinge & Sandby Things That Made Me Smile Today Explaining the difference between its and it’s to Martin with the help of a funny grammar website A hug & kiss from Karin this morning “for the first time in 24 hours, Mom!” Getting nearly halfway through another one...

WRITE, RIGHT?

I think I shall unofficially NaBloPoMo if I can manage it; we will see. Does anyone still do this anymore? Does anyone stilll do the NaNoWriMo anymore? I haven’t seen a thing about either one this year. And I’ve never done either, though back when I first started journaling online, lo these many years ago, I DID write nearly every day. Sometimes twice! Of course, it seems the inverse ratio of quality versus quantity decreases steadily, but what the hey, it’s better than not writing at all, right? I don’t plan on signing up or adding my name to any...

BITS OF TID

I feel the need for posting but what with a painful arm and shoulder, and a million other things to do that require sitting at a computer putting more strain on said arm & shoulder, I keep not doing it. 🙁 The sky is so blue today. It’s been beautiful all week. Blue sunny, autumn-breezy, not a cloud in the sky. This is my favorite kind of weather. It’s why autumn was my favorite season for most of my life (until I moved to Sweden and found out how much I need Spring). The kids and I have been slowly...

ENTERTAINING MY BROTHER

I wasn’t going to post today because I didn’t really feel like I had that much to say, but my brother is stuck in a hospital room 3.5 hours from home with his wife, who is under observation to make sure her contractions have stopped, so they don’t have a 6.5-week preemie. They had just started their vacation when she started having the contractions and ended up in the hospital. He has books to read (in German) and a TV in the room (in German) but not much else, and Simone can’t even sit up so they’re pretty stuck. She...

THINGS I’VE ACCOMPLISHED THIS WEEKEND, SO FAR

Attended an AWC sushi night with friends Took down all the curtains, washed them, did other things while my MiL ironed them all, put them back up. Several of them involved those little metal hook things that slip in the band and pleat it: I HATE THOSE THINGS. Every year I say I am never doing this job again. I say it again this year. Stripped and changed the beds 5 loads of laundry, all together Washed dishes and took out recyclables Dusted almost the whole house Vacuumed the whole house Grocery shopped Made a really yummy dinner for Martin...

MOOD SWINGS

Good: Surprising my friend Geena at her surprise wedding on Sunday, and getting to be a part of her special moment Bad: Insomnia Good: Praise for a presentation I put together and a brochure layout I’m finalizing Bad: Stressball workdays Good: Finding out at the allergist that I might not be allergic to cats anymore…at least according to the “pricktest” (which is what they call it in Swedish), though I would have to have a bloodtest done for conclusive results Bad: Anxiety dreams about work Good: Results from last week’s mammogram: nothing to report! Bad: Realizing that I had a...
