OVER AND OUT

I hate typing on little keyboard screens on iPads and iPhones and Kindles. ARGH. It makes me crazy. I have to re-type everything a gazillion times because my stupid finger hit the wrong keys EVERY SINGLE TIME. With touch-typing on a regular keyboard, I can backspace and retype without thinking about it, and nearly as fast. But on a stupid STUPID little tiny electronic virtual keyboard, it’s just SO FREAKING ANNOYING. I am really late getting to bed, so this is all the post I can manage today. Anders gets home tonight, but I don’t know what time…I hope it’s...

BAD START, BETTER END

Had a bad start to the morning. Got totally stressed out, yelled at the kids, was late to work. Have had a borderline headache for several days. Advil holds it at bay, neck massager helps but only temporarily, then it comes crawling back up my spine to rest at the base of my skull. Karin was home sick with a sore throat (again!) for 2 days, but she went to school today. However, she’s been complaining that her throat is even worse now…nothing seems to help. Martin came up on the bus to my office after school to ride home...

NOTED

I have done nothing of note since yesterday’s post, unless you count the projects I finalized at work, the 15 minutes I walked after lunch, the huge grocery shop I did this evening, the fun conversation I held with Martin and Karin at dinner or the online chat I just had with Skånetrafiken wherein I asked them if it was true they were taking away the buses between Flyinge and S. Sandby and how the hell did they expect my kids to get to school? They answered in the affirmative and then told me about the planned alternate routes. So,...

GAH

We just got the results of the book group vote on the next year’s worth of books and I WON MY BET WITH MYSELF, dammit: The Fault in Our Stars got voted in. AND of the ONLY two books that I had already read, guess what? One of them got voted in. And it’s the stupid Satanic Verses, which WHY would anyone want to read now?? Why? GAH. Sadly, only one of my recommendations made the list, though 3 others were one vote short. I don’t care, I’ll read them anyway. Here’s what got voted in, in no particular order:...

ARMCHAIR TRAVELER

It was a VERY blustery day today. We awoke to grey skies, rain spatters and windy windy winds. The birds were nowhere to be seen, no doubt hunkered down in the trees, and the feeders were both swinging in the breeze all day. Most of the leaves have been blown off the trees and everything is looking bare and ready for winter…except the green, green grass of our lawn. It looks better now than it did during the summer! Anders leaves in the morning for 4 days training in Italy and it’s a super busy week, so I might not...

WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND

I have nothing to write about right now. We spent a large part of the day cleaning house, because we have our Thanksgiving dinner party next weekend and Anders will be gone on all week and there’s no time on the day to do anything but prepare food and get the tables ready. So the big cleaning has to happen this weekend. I wrote a list of chores this morning and got everyone moving after lunch. I told the kids they had to pick at least 2 of the items on the list. Martin picked windexing and the toilets. Karin...

PRODUCTS OF THE PAST

Don’t you ever worry about the fact that all the stores with stuff are closing and all that will be left, soon, are clothing boutiques, hair salons, liquor stores, groceries, and restaurants? Bookstores are more and more threatened by Kindles and other e-readers. Stores that sell movies are going under as Netflix and Apple TV take over. Stores that sell music have pretty much already gone the way of the dinosaur. There are still some toy stores out there, but more and more, it seems that we do the majority of our shopping and ordering online. We stream our music...

MINDGAMES

Oops, I missed a day. How did I manage that?? I honestly have no idea. I was doing so well!! When I’m wasting time, which seems to happen much more frequently now than ever before, it’s by playing games on the iPad. Sometimes the kids play with me. In the mornings, if Martin is getting ready at the same time I am, he always plays the daily Seven Little Words and Red Herring with me. Sometimes, if it’s just a couple of us at the dinner table, we’ll put the iPad between us an play Logo Quiz or Iconic or...
