Spring has whirled into summer without my permission. We’ve been so busy that I have scarcely had time to catch my breath! And here it is, the 11 of June, and this is my first post this month. To be fair, Anders and I left on May 30 for our roadtrip to Normandy, the day after John and family went the other direction, north a couple of hours in Sweden. We were gone for 9 days, down and up again, and I’ll write some posts about the trip later this weekend (or tomorrow, if I get really motivated).
So weird to think that we have been married for 30 years. We met the year I turned 30. Anders gave me a lovely ring with a row of tiny diamonds, and I gave him two tickets to Monty Python’s Spamalot which is opening in September in Malmö. And I told him he doesn’t have to take me, if he’d rather go with Mats or another friend. 😀 Our roadtrip went smoothly, and it was full of long stretches of driving, lots of greenery, beautiful old cities and beaches and restaurants with great food. We stayed in really nice places, including the apartment of one of John’s friends, who kindly gave up his apartment for a night, in Bremen. It was quite a tough roadtrip, considering that it took us 3 days to get down to Saint-Malo and 3 days to get back to Sweden after 4 days on the Normandy coast (in 2 different places), and I would love to go down again and visit more of the area.
We got back Sunday at 4 pm and launched right into unpacking, laundry, and catching up with everything. The vegetable garden had exploded during our absence, thanks to our neighbor helping us out with watering. The only bummer is that of all the snap pea seeds that Anders planted, only about 7 have come up. Very strange. He’s going to replant and we’ll see what we get. But the carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and cucumbers are all doing great. Everything looks green and full and the cherry tree looks to be full of cherries, hurrah!
I’ve had a crazy busy week, with work just FULL of non-stop things to do. Monday after work I went to the grocery store and the pharmacy, Tuesday I had dinner with Debbie and Camilla, and yesterday had a birthday evening (for Barbara and Suzanne) with them and Lisel and Helen. We did a round of mini-golf at Camping Bar in Malmö and then had dinner at a swanky tapas place that is new in the space that TFIFridays used to have. It’s been split into 2 restaurants, Lola Maria, where we ate, and an Italian place next to it. Barbara had been there and said it was also good. I had steak tartar which I thought was delicious, though Barbara and Helen didn’t like theirs, and we all ate a ton of deep-fried goat cheese balls with beet puree, which were delicious.
Tonight is the only night I didn’t have plans, so when I got home I made a big batch of summer pasta salad, and hung out on the deck in the sunshine for a couple of hours, reading. Tomorrow, we are meeting the kids in Malmö for dinner, and Saturday we are going to Ola and Lotta’s for dinner. Anders is also going to a veteran car rally on Saturday. And I’m hoping to get to Nova Lund so I can get the ring resized and we can exchange the shirt I got Anders for his birthday which turned out to be the wrong size. Drrr.
So busy, busy, as always! I need another vacation!
