OVEREXTENDED

I’m feeling crazy busy, overextended and stressed from all my commitments. In short, perfectly normal. The cookies didn’t get baked last night, so I’m having to resort to the Rice Krispie Holly Bar recipe that I told carrieb about, and which I used 2 years ago, because otherwise I will have to show up with store-bought cookies and one cannot show up at a Christmas cookie exchange that was planned over 2 months ago BY ME with store-bought cookies. I’m a loser, I know. But I got some fun eyeshadow at the make-up demo yesterday, so who cares?

And quit thinking, “But she never wears eyeshadow.” I KNOW, OKAY?!

My online life is taking over my real life in some troubling ways, and I need to figure out how to get the two back in balance. With a full-time job, 2 kids, a house and a husband, plus my commitments to the club, I can’t afford to spend as much time online as I have been doing lately. This makes me feel guilty and conflicted as I LIKE being online and I like the projects I’m involved in. Including this journal.

I may be angsty but at least I don’t have to travel across half of middle-earth to get rid of a stupid ring.

The tile guy was supposed to show up this morning at 8:00 a.m., but at 8:45 still hadn’t made his appearance, so we left a note on the door and went to work. If Anders can’t get in touch with him, or he’s forgotten about his promise to tile our 2nd bathroom, then our hallway will still be a huge mess when our guests arrive for Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday (16 adults, 8 kids under 6, yes, I’m insane) and we’ll still only have 1 toilet.

So, it’s Monday and if I don’t write these things down, I tend to forget them:

  • Monday create, print & mail Martin’s birthday party invitations, grocery shopping, make rice krispie treats, watch West Wing
  • Tuesday massage (thank god!), print AWC stuff, pick up stuffing, sushi, AWC meeting
  • Wednesday parent-teacher conference for Karin, choir
  • Thursday bank loan appointment, wreath-making workshop
  • Friday buy turkeys, cook at least 2 of them, laundry, clean house
  • Saturday finish cleaning house, iron napkins, get ready for dinner party (remaining turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes)
  • Sunday collapse MUDDY AND EXHAUSTED!
