OUT AND ABOUT

Martin and I, in the car, driving past a stand of maple trees beginning to show autumn colors Liz: Look, Martin! The trees are turning! Martin: …to the Dark Side. pause Liz & Martin: *giggle madly* Started packing today for my trip, or at least making piles on the dining room table of clothes and things to take with. Dithering about clothing and weather. When I talked to my sister she warned me that it’s HOT there. Hot and humid. Aieee! Summer clothes. I’ve been wearing sweaters and warm clothing here for WEEKS*. Back to dithering and completely re-thinking my...

TWITTERISH

Even after 7 years 6 years (argh stupid math head), a documentary about 9/11 comes on TV and my stomach gives a lurch and I have to get up and leave the room. Even though I wasn’t watching TV. Even though I was immersed in a good book. I slept badly last night for various reasons and if I open that particular can of memories the worms will keep me awake all night. *** It appears that the list of new music artists that I’ve discovered lately has burgeoned to unwieldy proportions and I need serious intervention. Send CDs! ***...

SHORT AND SWEET

Why is it always the parents of the problem children who spend the most time at parent-teacher meetings being belligerent about the school rules and the classroom routines? Honestly, sometimes you just want to bonk people’s heads together. ***

ARGH & YIPPEE IN THE SAME POST

I’m an idiot and too fast for my own good. Aside to my sister: this is not meant to make you feel bad, I’m just grumbling at my own stupidity. It seems that EVERYTHING is happening on the very same week this year. The Gothenburg Book Fair, which I had a blast at last year. The AWC Regional Meeting in Copenhagen, which is always a fun time, and I love any excuse to go to Copenhagen. Both scheduled for the same weekend as my sister’s wedding. Oh well, c’est la vie. BUT, I booked my tickets last night without double-checking...

PASSING THROUGH SUMMER

I don’t really have anything to say at the moment, but it probably doesn’t matter since I get the feeling not many people are reading lately. The whole blogosphere seems to be sitting on the back porch with their feet up on the chaise longue, sweating in the sunshine; a tall cool glass of something or other by their side. The internets are wearing floppy straw hats and big black sunglasses! They’re reading beach books and wearing SPF 20. The blogosphere is tanner than I am. I’ve been reliably informed by my children that I am “vampire white.” My purpose...

THE OLD MAN IS DROWNING, APPARENTLY

Freaky ass weather. The sun is shining and it’s POURING rain. It’s been freaky pouring rain showers on and off all day, along with hail, lightning, thunder and sunshine. If you don’t like the weather in Sweden, just wait 5 minutes.

NOT AN EXCUSE, JUST A STATUS REPORT

3 solid days of meetings which included evening activities, unsettling re-org news and much wasted time. 4 hours of sleep last night thanks to the fly party that started at 4 a.m. 1 pile of dead flies. Headache, fever and achey-ness today. No desire for writing anything, at all. *** Aside: Christina, I’ve not forgotten, I swear. You’ll have it tomorrow. I’ve read it and am thinking through my feedback. 🙂 Many Many Belated Birthday Ones to totte and jax_in_sweden and Firecrackery Splosion Birthday Wishes to shazzerlive!

TIME FLIES LIKE AN ARROW…FRUIT FLIES LIKE A BANANA

Whoa! Did you see that? The day was SHORTER today. Darn that solstice for zooming up and passing us at the speed of light (ha! speed of light! Me so funny) when I was really just wanting it to stay spring forever. Note to self: start Christmas shopping, cuz here it comes I suppose that having it stay spring forever would entail moving somewhere like southern California where it’s (allegedly) 72 and sunny every damn day of the year. Do you live in southern California? If so, can you VERIFY, please? I suppose as well that if I actually DID...

RING OUT SOLSTICE BELLS!

You sure couldn’t tell it was the longest day of the year here, what with the grey skies and cloud cover, but Happy Solstice anyway! I went to see Elton John in concert last night, a last-minute invitation from a good friend who had disinvited her husband because he’s been such a butthead lately. I hate to luck out on someone else’s marital problems, but it was fun to go to a concert, which I haven’t done in ages. The last time I saw Elton John I was in college and we sat on the lawn and he totally rocked...

IN SUMMER, THE SONG SINGS ITSELF*

Where IS everybody? You’re certainly not commenting much. Are you reading? Are you already on vacation? Have you been hit by the summertime sluggishness? or the Junebugaloo? I make some minor noise about lofty reasons for writing in this journal, but really? It’s all about the comments. It’s all about the love, people, and I’m NOT FEELING THE LOVE! hahahahaha!!! Believe me, I am right there, up the same, still, weed-choked creek with you. Motivation is nowhere to be seen, perhaps it’s under a lilypad or over in the meadow, in the sand, in the sun. It cooled down drastically...
