OBITER DICTUMING

I waited too long to write anything tonight and now I feel I’m running out of time…it’s alread 9:30 and I need to go to bed by 10 if I’m not going to be a zombie tomorrow…and since I will read until 11, I will be a zombie regardless. Which is my modus operandi, actually: stay up too late, read even later, get up when the alarm goes off, BRAAAAAAAAAAINS. Work is just seriously insanely busy. We get in more than 20 “official” requests a day (there are 4 of us) and countless more unofficial ones that consist of emails,...

SPUN ABOUT

Wait, where did the week go?? Anders leaves for Texas tomorrow (for 2 weeks, wah!) and to make it worse his taxi is coming at 3:00 a.m which means he has to get up at 2:30 A.M. and his being gone means I have to get up 25 minutes earlier every school day in order to get Karin moving on time. It’s been a crazy week and I’m having trouble remembering what exactly I did that made it so crazy. Busy, yes, but unusually so? No. I saw the naprapat again and while the pain in my shoulder, arm and...

VERY SMALL TIDDLY BITS & A GIANT PUMPKIN

Today was the first completely pain-free left-arm day in 4 weeks. I have no idea why, but MAN, am I happy about it. Fresh figs with brie or chevre cheese on crackers were good but honestly? Nothing that special. The weather has been so incredibly beautiful that it makes me want to sing. i can’t get Silly Love Songs by Wings out of my head, and really, why would I want to? In the past 3 days I have emailed 134 paid AWC members with their directory info to double-check and today I called 44 (with more or less success)...

BITS OF TID

I feel the need for posting but what with a painful arm and shoulder, and a million other things to do that require sitting at a computer putting more strain on said arm & shoulder, I keep not doing it. 🙁 The sky is so blue today. It’s been beautiful all week. Blue sunny, autumn-breezy, not a cloud in the sky. This is my favorite kind of weather. It’s why autumn was my favorite season for most of my life (until I moved to Sweden and found out how much I need Spring). The kids and I have been slowly...

DOUBLE-DRIVE-BY

This is literally the first time in 2 weeks that I have had the energy or the time to get online and post something. It has been go go go since I got to Massachusetts. This is our last evening here; Mom and I fly out tomorrow from Boston, she home to Michigan, and me home via the Atlantic Ocean and a layover in Amsterdam. (which I just spelled Amsterdamn and then Amsterdamm in my attempts to finish the sentence…drrr). I have had a very productive, very fun 2 weeks and extra quality time with my mom, plus a GREAT...

VACATION STATE OF MIND

My entire family is on vacation except for me. Martin has 8.5 weeks. Karin has 10 weeks. Anders changed his scheduled vacation time and took next week off, so he has 5 weeks off as of today. I’m still working next week (and as we speak, actually) but then I have 4 weeks off. And it’s a 3-day weekend right now (as soon as I quit working, already). But still. 10…8.5…5…4…I think I’m getting the short end of the vacation stick.* It’s 9 pm and the sun is still high in the sky. It’s shining right through the bedroom windows...

HOLIDAYS, CASTLES, ANNIVERSARIES, SHOWERS & A QUESTION

It’s gone a week, nearly, and suddenly it’s June. And I’m beginning to have that panicky feeling of “where has the year gone?” It’s nearly half over! Eeek! Christmas will be here before you know it! Haaa! Anders comes home tomorrow from his 3-weeks of jaunting. He’s home for a week, then gone for a week then gone for the weekend, then gone for a week. THEN he’s on vacation, and we still haven’t bought tickets for our trip to Iceland. I don’t even know if we can really afford it. There seems to be no end to the things...

BUSY BUSY BUSY

Zoomity! Thank goodness I got to sleep in both yesterday and today because it’s non-stop go go go otherwise. *** Sweden allllmost won Eurovision but got shoved under at the end by Azerbajian and Italy. Which was good considering Sweden’s song wasn’t very good. But which was bad since the 2 that beat it were actually WORSE. *** I have had it up to HERE with malfunctioning computer-y things. The router or the wireless or the internet or SOMETHING doesn’t work right and it keeps disconnecting, constantly. We have to constantly disable and reconnect and inbetween restart the router manually,...

RAMBLING

A jackdaw perches on the corner of the playhouse. I can hear the summer sound of children laughing and bouncing on the trampoline as the sun slides into shadow at the end of the day. A tiny spider dangles by a silken thread from the edge of the porch roof, legs wheeling frantically as it motors upwards. All the greens have evened out, darkened into summer shades; the neon edges of newness no longer vibrant and jarringly alive. Today is only Tuesday. For once, the week seems to be strolling through the days; no frantic sense of time slipping by...
