Well, it’s officially fall here in Sweden. Yes, that’s right, I saw a huge sugar beet on the side of the road on my way to work this morning. 🙂 Yesterday evening, the kids and I walked to the library and afterwards we went around the school and daycare yards and collected berries off the mountain ash trees. We do this every year and use them as table decorations at the Halloween party. We found some gorgeous red leaves (already!!). In a couple of weeks, we’ll go up to the abandoned youth hostel in Lund and collect more red ivy...

I came home today to find a huge brown-wrapped package on the front doorstep, from the local flowershop. Upon opening it, I found a beautiful potted orchid and a thank you note from the FAWCO President and board for my recent help with their membership directory. Made my day, I must say. 🙂 It’s nice to feel appreciated!

I refuse to pronounce it EVRO.

I don’t want to do any of the things I have to do today at work. It’s sunny out. Why can’t I win the lottery and go live on the Riveria? oh yeah, I’d have to PLAY the lottery. sigh

Driving through the fields in a veil of mist, white whiskers streaming through and around the trees, droplets on every leaf and surface. Just as I reach the field, the sun burns the mist away and emerges in all its glory, reflected by hundreds of adoring copycats, peeping from under the green leaves. Pumpkin suns dot the ground, coyly covered in a blanket of green and yellow blossoms and to the right a waving field of broadly green, tall, tasselled corn. I bought two lagom big pumpkins for Halloween jack-o-lanterns and a handful of yellow squash, winter squash and zucchini....

I got as far as I could on the AWC website, now just waiting for the activity coordinators to get back to me with dates for the calendars. Got the new edition of the directory along as far as I could, and now am working on the presentation. Then I’m going to look up some books on amazon.com that I might have to add to my books-to-buy list (beware, mom!) and then it’s off to bed. I managed, in the midst of all this computer working frenzy, to scan and upload the latest page from my collage book which you...

Every year for the past five years, we’ve gone with the AWC to the pumpkin field in Svalöv and picked our Halloween pumpkins, and bought gourds and sweet corn and had a fun picnic. It’s scheduled for tomorrow, but Anders just told me that it’s the kids first day for Mulle, the preschool Scout group they belong to, and which Anders is a leader for, which means I’m going by myself, without the kids…which is most of the fun. 🙁

Do you sometimes feel that if you stopped taking care of some of your extra responsibilities, the world would grind to a halt? That’s how I feel today. It’s a shame because the sun is shining and it’s warm and I really shouldn’t be in a bad mood. It’s the club. It makes me crazy regularly, and I shouldn’t complain about it, but I can’t help it. 🙁 We have 112 members and it’s the same 10 people at every event, and I honestly feel some days that if I stopped holding up my end of it, the entire club...

My favorite joke of all time: Why won’t cannibals eat clowns? Because they taste funny! (and I’ve got more where that came from!!)
