3 things I’m enjoying right now:
- Our own produce, including cherries, cucumbers, potatoes, and tiny baby carrots
- Sunny summery days that so far have not been too hot (except once)
- Re-reading old sci-fi and fantasy favorites
3 things I am thinking about rather too much of the time:
- Aging
- My weight
- Work, when I’m off
The last 3 really good NEW books I read recently:
- The Jellyfish Problem by Tessa Yang
- Briefly Very Beautiful by Roz Dineen
- Before Dorothy by Hazel Gaynor
3 recent addictions:
- Anton Berg’s Dark Chocolate Sea Salt bars
- Chewy strawberry balls
- Fresh fruit
3 things on my to-do list:
- Write July letter
- Make an appointment with a familjjurist
- Decide if I’m going to make a photobook out of our Normandy trip
3 things that I’m super happy about:
- The fast growth and curliness of my hair
- The fact that our kids want to spend time with us
- The state of our garden
3 things I am looking forward to:
- Kivik trip tomorrow with the whole family and Theo, for Karin’s birthday
- Falsterbo Photography Museum and lunch with Debbie and Camilla
- A visit at the end of July from my old Chicago roommate Lisa
3 things that I hope will happen this year:
- A visit from my mom and Sarah (and possibly Bryce
- A promotion for both of my kids
- A Democratic sweep in the US midterms
I would write about the 3 things I’ve done today, but honestly, I’ve been a TOTAL slug. Maximum relaxation. Sleeping in, showering and dressing (but not putting on makeup), reading, playing iPad games, eating lunch and dinner, and napping. That’s basically it so far. O! I did iron a shirt. And I did make a quick run to ICA to pick up the last birthday present for Karin, but that’s it. O! And I wrote this post, so that’s something, haha! Anders was working on the car and the bike projects in the garage and went for a spin this afternoon, and now it’s after 7 pm so we’ll probably settle down on the couch (again, for me) to watch something. I don’t know what, though. We finished Season 5 (last one, sob!) of The Bear last night, and season 3 of Shrinking last week, and I don’t know what I’m in the mood for now. I really want to watch Hamnet but not sure he will want to. Plus, it’s sad, and a child dies, and I’m not sure I want to deal with that.
The sky is a beautiful light blue with lots of puffy and streaky clouds. The sun is shining and it’s so light out it’s hard to believe it’s nearly 7:30 pm. It’s been warm today but there’s been a good breeze and the house has stayed relatively cool. Anders grilled pork filets for dinner and we had steamed asparagus and our potatoes and new carrots with bernaise sauce on the side for dinner. Yum yum. Tomorrow we’re picking up the kids, at 11 in Malmö and heading out to Kivik on the coast for lunch, and fika at some café run by friends of Karin, and possibly over to Ales Stenar. Don’t think I’ve been there since 2018. It’s supposed to be sunny and warm again tomorrow, so a good day for a family roadtrip.
