One would never know that I’ve been on this planet for SIXTY-ONE AND A HALF YEARS and that ALL of those years have contained a Spring season. This past week my eyes have been itching terribly, I’ve been sneezing my head off and feeling strained and tired and yet it took an embarrassing five full days of this for the lightbulb to finally light up above my head yesterday evening after a bout of itching, sneezing, and rubbing my eyes so severe that I was nearly crying, with the realization that DUH…allergy season is here! Spring is sprung! ATCHOO!
As soon as the realization dawned, I ran to the bathroom to find the allergy meds, but OMG there weren’t any. Where was my Alleve? GONE. I have one old bottle of Visine, which helps a bit even if its effectivity is probably around nil now. I KNOW there was a box of Alleve in the bathroom cabinet before, but there was no sign of it. Did I give it to Martin? Did I return it to the pharmacy with other out-of-date meds? Who knows.
Today at work, I had to send out a cry for help to my department asking if anyone had any allergy tablets. Thankfully, someone did. I had a tablet in my hand 15 minutes later, and 3 other people who contacted me shortly after as backups. Whew. It was a 24-hour tablet, but 8 hours later, my eyes are feeling itchy again. I just checked pollenkoll.se and the only things showing are alder and hazel, neither of which should bother me. AUGH. Added Visine immediately to my US shopping list.
Stopped at the pharmacy on the way home and bought a box of Alleve and a teeny tiny bottle of eye drops with antihistimine.
Very glad that Spring is actually around the corner, but I sure wish it would find another way to announce itself.
