Our house is such a perfect party palace! Pie Night was another smash success, and this year all 26 attendees were on time and we had the perfect division of dinner pies and dessert pies. For dinner we had brie and mushroom pie, sauerkraut and sausage pie, spinach and broccoli quiche, gluten-free shepherds pie, 2 taco pajs, cheese empanadas and chili beef empanadas, and tuna plait. One family also brought a spinach salad and carrot and celery sticks. For dessert we had 2 fruit pizzas, 2 blueberry pies (one gluten-free), key lime pie (also gluten-free), boston creme pie, berry crumble, and cinnamon apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Very few leftovers, so I’d say rousing success. We have 3 pieces of pie to split for leftovers tonight, and about half a fruit pizza and that’s it. Nom Nom
I did my best not to overeat, and didn’t overdo it on trying all the pies (I picked just a few favorites and didn’t go back for seconds on dessert, at least!) And it was such lovely company and so much fun. All the kids (mostly teenagers) were super well-behaved, and I got compliments on my books from several people and one woman raved about the moose bathroom; turns out she’s a moose fantast as well! The kids watched Melodifestivalen in the playroom after 8 pm and played games, and we had a lot of fun conversations going on around the house. I had help washing dishes and cleaning up as well, and the whole evening just went super smoothly. So nice! I especially enjoyed getting to know Kate and Joakim better as they are definitely my kind of people. 🙂

The famous fruit pizza
Another sunny day today, for a wonder, and I’ve already gone for a walk around the block. We got the house returned to rights and I washed all the dishes and did some house chores this morning after having a lovely long sleep-in. I actually woke up right before 7 am, got up to go to the bathroom and take my pill and then, amazingly, fell back asleep and slept nearly until 10! I rarely sleep in at all anymore, so I was quite happy with my slug-success, haha! The only other things on my to-do list today are to do my exercises, write my March letter, and do the final bookings for our Normandy trip.
I have a relatively calm week ahead, which is also a miracle. Nothing in the evenings until Friday, when I’m going pottery painting with Martin and Theo, and possibly some AIC members, if anyone else signs up. And no medical appointments or any other appointments either! On Saturday I’m going to dinner and the opera with Debbie, Camilla, and Debbie’s sister Doris who is here visiting from Canada. We’re going to see Come From Away, which is a feel-good musical about 9/11 flights bearing 7000 passengers that were diverted to Newfoundland, where they were stranded for 5 days. I plan to relax as much as possible every evening, especially since I suspect work will continue to be crazy-making and I already have a lot to do tomorrow.
