CHECK CHECK CHECK!

It’s simultaneously so weird and so cool to see my children at their work, at their places of employment, while they’re working. We haven’t been to the restaurant Karin is working at in Denmark yet, but we’ve seen her in action at Beachgarden last summer, and I worked directly and indirectly with her at Axis for 5 years. We’ve been to all the restaurants here in Sweden that Martin has worked at, and it gives me such a feeling of pride to see them working. Not because I had anything to do with the super cool adults they’ve grown into, except I HAVE, WE HAVE, and that’s no small thing. They’re super cool all the time (even when they’re frustrating me) but for some reason I find watching them at work to be something special.

We went to have dinner last night at Folk Bodega in Lund where Martin works. It was packed but he knew we were coming so he had reserved a table for us (which I hadn’t asked him to…he just did it!). He’s working behind the bar now, though he was originally hired for the kitchen (which he also still does). They serve pizza by the slice, which is unusual for Sweden. They have a dozen or so other smaller dishes, and only 6 different pizzas, but they always have one with a white sour creamy sauce, which is the one I usually get, with the addition of prosciutto. It’s currently got blue cheese and caramelized onions on it, with mozzarella and parmesan, and though it was quite good, I really liked the previous one that had mushrooms and taleggio cheese. They have a really good pizza salad, too, which has cabbage, kale, and parmesan. Yum!

Martin is so self-assured with customers and with his collegues and his boss. He has an air about him when he’s working: he knows what he’s doing and he does it well. Karin is the same way. Even though neither of them is currently working at a job that they want to do for the rest of their lives, they are doing a GOOD job of it, and I’m really proud of both of them.

I meant to sleep in today, and didn’t set an alarm, but I didn’t sleep well, due to my stuffed up head and sinus infection (plus the usual 3x to the bathroom). I was awake at 7, when Anders got up, and I couldn’t get back to sleep. The sun was shining and I could hear the birds at the feeders, so I played iPad games for a little while and finished my book, and then got out of bed just after 9. Last night after we got home, I wrote a Weekend to-do list. It had 20 items on it, and I removed 1 and added 6 more after I showered.

Right now it’s 1:10 pm and I have crossed off 16 things. Go me! And I still have all of tomorrow because it’s a WEEKEND to-do list, not a Saturday to-do list.

One of the things is to spraypaint a candleholder that my friend Camilla wants. Anders bought the spraypaint for me yesterday when he went to the paint store to buy the paint and primer for the fridge/freezer nook, and today he told me he would do the spraypainting for me later this afternoon. And one of the items is “Kiss Anders” but I can’t cross that off yet, because I will probably do it multiple times! 😀 One item involves leaving the house (and there are add-ons to it which aren’t actually on the list), and I’ll most likely do that tomorrow (or maybe even after work on Monday), because the watch repair place I need to go to isn’t open for much longer.

Anders is out in the garage working on the shock absorbers for the MG, and he plans to do the second coat in the kitchen (he did the primer last night) and my spraypainting job, and then tonight we will watch the 4th round of Melodifestivalen (MÃ¥ns Zelmerlöv, a former Mello winner, Eurovision winner, and favorite is performing). I just realized that the Mello final is the same night we are hosting Pie Night, so I’ll need to make sure attendees and potential attendees are aware we will have it on.

And now I can strike off another item on my to-do list: write a blog post. Check!

Mello Final sounds like a great name for a Pie. would probably win Pie Night.
Even better would be a Pie Knight. who would win Gold Medal in Jousting? The legendary Pie Knight, of course.
Do you have a recipe for Mello Night? mine has Cantaloupe and that other Green Melon on it, you know? the Honey Dew Ya? anyway, it is quite a Recipe, and would easily win Pie Night. you would hve no chance with your version. sorry.

Why is Pizza by the Slice so unsual in Sweden? Why are Tacos all the rage on Friday nights in Norway? and do Germans other than the ones in Bavaria, really eat Bratwurst?
Quick unknown fact – about any Pizza that has a white sour creamy sauce is technically not a Pizza, but a Flammkuchen. Thanks to the French and the Alsatian version of that pie. excellent choice for a Pie Night, too, in case you were wondering.

why be so violent to your to-do list? instead of striking things off, you just just give them a compliment and move on.

      Are you drunk? 😀

Most people order whole pizzas to go. People don’t typically sit at a pizza place and eat, but if they do, they take what they don’t eat home. It’s all thin crust pizza usually, and astonishingly (to me at least), most people eat the whole thing. And taco night is TUESDAY. Duh.

And you have to show your to-do list who is boss. I mostly CROSS things OFF and then yell TA-DAH!
