IT’S A LOT RIGHT NOW

I just hung up the artwork that John and his kids made for me, for Christmas. It’s two flowers made of sliced up, painted pinecones, mounted on a wooden board. I’ve been debating where to put it, and originally thought of putting it out on the porch, but the walls out there are stucco, so not only does Anders not want to put a nail in them, but there’s no good way to mount anything at all on them. I couldn’t even use a CommandStrip, which is what I’ve now used to hang them on the tile wall in the main bathroom. The flowers are blue so they match nicely with our towels.

It’s been a busy day, even if easy. Martin came over yesterday, meeting me at the office and going to ICA with me, and then home for the evening, and stayed overnight. Anders made a delicious dinner of steak with green-pepper sauce, potatoes au gratin and steamed broccoli. Extra nice to have them both home as Anders has been working late every day this past week. Martin and I got the beds in his bedroom switched and put up stuff into the attic, and then we worked on the pirate jigsaw puzzle, which I was super thankful for, as it has to be done by the middle of this coming week. We have Pie Night next Saturday and I’m busy Monday, Thursday, and Friday, so I was starting to panic about getting it done.

We took him to Malmö, saw the progress the guys have made on their apartment merger, took them to lunch at the very good Middle Eastern restaurant on their street, and Anders hung a painting for them. They were going to hang Martin’s shelf as well, but something happened with the drill and now he has to go back with spackel to fix something. We brought home empty moving boxes for future use, and those went back up into the attic. I’ve started laundry, done a bunch of miscellaneous things, and now I’m going to relax as well.

It was a pretty terrible week, with one shock after another at work. We were informed on Monday that Corporate Marketing is being dissolved and parts moved into other departments of the company, and that our head of Marketing who has been with the company for 15 years, chose to resign. My sub-department, along with 3 others, is moving under Global Sales. 4 sub-departments are moving under Product Management, and the last one is moving to IT. We also found out that in addition to 2 of our team members going on maternity leave by summer, another one is leaving, and our design consultant is moving to Stockholm, which means she’ll also gradually be leaving. GAH. Lots of turmoil, worry, and unanswered questions all around. The proposal still has to be approved by the Union, but since the new boss and the management team have to figure out how to make this all work (something I sort of think they should have had some clue about beforehand), we are a bit in limbo as to the future and have been told everything is business as usual for now.

Was just on the phone with my friend Debbie who had a hip replacement operation on Tuesday. She’s doing very well, and has no pain from the hip itself, and has 10 weeks off to rest and recuperate. 10 weeks off is very appealing at the moment, I must say!
