HALLOWEENIES

It was either a very quiet year for trick-or-treating, or I bought too much candy. 😛 It’s super foggy out tonight, and I know lots of families were very excited about Halloween this year, judging by the chatter on the village FB group. We’ve had lots of kids, actually, but it doesn’t feel like we had THAT many, if you know what I mean. They’re still trickling in as I write this, and maybe I feel like it wasn’t so many because Karin took turns with me answering the door and handing out candy. I guess I’ll be bringing lots into work to share this week.

Martin and Karin carved their pumpkins yesterday, which made me happy. They are both super serious about it nowadays, copying cool patterns and ideas off the internet and being very intense during the carving process 😀 Karin chose a rendition of Jack Skellington and Martin did a spider. I confessed that I have never actually see The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Martin, at least, was a little shocked. I know I have seen bits of it but I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen the whole thing. I’ve never seen The Corpse Bridge either, OR Hocus Pocus, so maybe my antipathy for horror flicks has oozed over on spooky Halloween movies, too.

Tonight, Anders made Jerusalem Artichoke & Potato Soup with parma ham chips, which was delicious. His sister gave us a huge bag of artichokes, and he’s only used half of them, but the soup was so good, I will push him to make it again. Yum yum! It’s definitely soup weather now!

Had a bunch more trick-or-treaters while I was trying to write this post, and now the candy bowl is starting to look decimated, so all in all, a good spooktacular weekend and Halloween Monday!

Anyway, Happy Halloween to all!

I think movies like the Nightmare Before Christmas are the kind of things I would borrow the DVD from the library and have the kids watch it while I did something else. There are a bunch of movies like that where my kids are sure I’ve seen it but really, I just saw bits here and there when I would check in on them.
