THREE WEEKS OF LOVE

Mom and Sarah came back with us to Sweden, from Bornholm. Three weeks! Luxury! It was so nice to have them here, and of course, as always, the time went too fast, and they have already left and returned home to the US. Since they had to share a bed in Germany and on Bornholm, we gave them separate bedrooms at our place (since Karin isn’t living at home it wasn’t too difficult).

We had lots of things on the calendar for their visit, and we added a whole pile of stuff as well that Sarah wanted to do since she’s the one who has been in Sweden the least. She was here for a week by herself when Martin was baptized, and with her family for a week after John’s wedding in 2006, and then again for a couple of days (with family) in 2012 after we were all together in Northern Germany, but we didn’t do a whole lot.

These are the things we did while they were here:

  • 2 massages for mom and Sarah from Emily at Blindspot (only 1 for me, but I had my second today)
  • jigsaw puzzling (but we had to give Sarah her own to do, because she’s obsessive and wouldn’t stop)
  • walking around and shopping in Malmö and Lund
  • attending the AIC monthly meeting which was dinner and a mingle in Malmö
  • swinging in the garden swing, walking in the neighborhood, and at Skrylle
  • spending the day (with lunch) at Wanås sculpture park
  • eating lots of great meals both at home and out
  • visiting the horses and looking for stork feathers at Flyinge Kungsgård
  • attending AIC book group at my friend Lisel’s home. Sarah read the book, too! (neither of us cared much for it though)
  • visiting Skissernas Museum in Lund plus delicious lunch at their restaurant
  • flea marketing and junk store shopping every chance we got
  • having Mats and Annelott over for dinner
  • a fantastic buffet lunch and a guided tour at Svaneholm castle with Debbie and Camilla
  • exploring Mölle and shopping in Höganäs and finding a fantastic gelato place
  • baking cookies and taking them to my office to show them where I work
  • attending a papermaking workshop (with Martin along) and bringing home lots of pretty homemade paper
  • having dinner with Cate, Magnus, and Sydney at their home in Limhamn
  • a fun AIC lunch in Lund
  • hosting a crayfish party with lots of fun guests
  • visiting Kulturen in Lund
  • walking all over Copenhagen including Christiania
  • watching Karin’s team win a soccer match against their rivals
  • shopping in Emporia and visiting Malmö Castle
  • and lots of talking, laughing, relaxing, hanging out, and chilling together!

I can’t wait until the next time we get together and it surely will not be as long in between this time!
