HOW SWEET IT IS

Look at me posting again! Whee! Russell helped me add a Contact page last night, and we fixed some formatting issues on the About page, and he added a captcha safety measure to the comments form so that I don’t get bombarded with spam. I don’t expect I will, regardless, as I don’t link to my blog much or advertise it publicly, but you never know.

We had a cake party at work this afternoon, and I’m still on a sugar buzz. Helen, who is a friend, and the Marketing Director’s assistant, took it upon herself to organize a fun activity for the beginning of the summer. A lot of people are already on vacation but we still had an excellent turnout. She sent out info and invites a few weeks ago, inviting those in the office to bake/bring a cake today at 2 pm. If you wanted to come eat cake, but not bring one, she asked that you simply swished a donation to the charity of your choice instead.

Last week it was the 8th floor (Segment Marketing, Solution Marketing, Product Marketing, Digital Channels, etc.) and today it was the 7th floor (Communications, Marcom & Events, Partner Marketing). We had tiger cake, chocolate chunk brownies, kladdkaka (brownie pie), frozen caramel cheesecake, white chocolate cake, chocolate-dipped coconut tops, salty caramel brownies, Swedish princess cake, and my fruit pizza. I asked Helen who had the most cakes, us or the 8th floor, and she said we had more by a mile. “We win!” I shouted. We also had ice cream and two bowls of fresh fruit. Yum yum.

I didn’t try everything because I would be in a sugar COMA instead of a sugar buzz right now, but I had a tiny slice each of the white chocolate cake, the caramel cheesecake, my fruit pizza, and a salty caramel brownie. My fruit pizza was a favorite and there was only a tiny bit left which I brought home to share with Anders. Three people asked me for the recipe, which I will give them, but as it includes almond extract, which you can’t easily find in Sweden, I say good luck to them. If they make it, it will be good, but it won’t be DELICIOUS like mine. 😀

It was like Pie Night only with cakes, and in the afternoon, and at work. Mmmm pie! And since I made Fruit Pizza, which I always make for Pie Night, it was basically exactly the same, only I didn’t have to host it.

Tomorrow is Karin’s birthday. She’s turning 23, can you believe it? We are going to her place after work to bring her presents, and then going to Mat & Destillat for dinner, and then possibly to Västra Hamnen in Malmö for “the best gelato” (according to Karin) at her friend’s brother’s ice cream place.

I had another appointment with a physiotherapist this morning, but it was a different one than the lady I saw the first two times since she is now on vacation. This one was the ergonomist who comes to Axis to check our seats and desks and sitting arrangements. She’s coming tomorrow to work to check mine. She did basically the same things that the first one did: same exercises and discussion, and she pulled on my neck several times which actually felt really good. I still have pins and needles in my hand, worst in my fingertips, but it’s very slightly better than it was before my first appointment last week. I’m taking ibuprofin 3x daily and doing sets of exercises. And she recommended that I get another MRI scheduled so that it’s possible to see if there is any difference from the one I had in 2017. So, I called my health insurance after I got back to work, and they got me a doctor’s appointment for August 4 (first available), because it’s the doctor that has to give the referral for an MRI. Progress, but slow.

Nice to see old Findus again!

I started blogging on WordPress in 2012, and for a while it was reminiscent of the old LJ days but I think it is tough to find a community that is still interested in reading, sadly. I still post something now and then but the bulk of it is always in November. I’ve got a streak going for NaBloPoMo so I usually rally and make it happen. It’s noisycats.com if you are curious.

I tried to comment here and made two weirdly routine grammatical errors, which I blame on this new site. Cite? Knew? See? This is definitely a WordPress problem. I’ll keep reading but I’ve got my eye on you, WP.

The cake party sounds delicious! And I know Karin had a birthday but it really didn’t sink in that she’s 23!!!!! How did that happen so fast!?? I hope your neck improves quickly. Love & hugs!
