THIS THAT THIS THAT AND THIS TOO

OMG I am so lame. I have let FOUR entire weeks go by without posting a damn thing except in my head. Did you read all my mind posts? They were excellent…well-written, thought-provoking, funny, etc. If you didn’t you totally missed out. I’m pretty sure they disappear after 24 hours just liike a chapsnat or a toktik or a story in any of the bazillion social media platforms that have stories. Read ’em while they’re hot!

Or not.

Anyway, it’s been a day full of good things, and in addition to posting my daily list of good things on FB, I thought I’d pop in here before this month was actually over and ACTUALLY write an ACTUAL post.

I was supposed to be at the hospital this morning, having my spelunking #2 procedure done, but yesterday afternoon I got a text saying that it was cancelled because the doctor was sick. SIGH. SUCK. They are sending me a new appointment time…I’ve been waiting for this appointment since August, and considering that I am actually 2.5 years overdue this time, it’s a little aggravating that it got cancelled the day before. Healthcare waiting times in Sweden are ridic right now, so who knows when I’ll get a time. I’ll take bets that it’s when I’m out of town. Whaddaya wanna bet? I had taken the day off, and all this week I’ve been preparing for vacation, figuring that I might work a bit today in the afternoon if I felt up to it after the procedure, but not making any promises.

And since it was cancelled, and I had already managed to pretty much get most everything done that I still had on my plate at work, I only worked about 4 hours today, and quite leisurely, which was super nice. I got up late, worked a bit, talked to Martin, had lunch, worked a bit, etc. I got all my hanging tickets done, finalized, delivered, or put back out to unassigned for my team to monitor. I could theoretically work both Monday and Tuesday because we don’t actually leave until Wednesday but I took 2 weeks off (because of our original plans) and by god, I’ve earned them.

Martin impressed the hell out of me today, pulling out farmor’s sewing machine and whipping up the ripping seams in my favorite pair of pants for me, before taking in the waist on TWO pairs of pants, as well as turning the second pair into shorts. Considering I can barely thread a needle, this was a majorly impressive feat in my eyes. He did the final sewing for me on the binding of a notebook that I made at a bookbinding workshop on Wednesday, too. YAY!

The bookbinding was super fun. Martin went with me as my guest, as it was an AIC event. The woman who does the workshops does bookbinding for a living, making books, notebooks, miniature books for keyrings and Christmas tree ornaments and teeny-tiny books for earrings and necklaces. You can see her cool stuff on her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bookie.fi/

We all chose to make small A6-sized notebooks (soft covers) and we got NEARLY finished before our time was up, so I was very happy that Martin finished mine off for me the next day. Mine is a dark vertical striped cover in navy/burgundy/mustard with dark green thread binding. His is a cool water-patterned grey with red flames up the sides. We had so much fun, and I really want to schedule another workshop to do more!

After work today, Anders and I drove to Löddeköppinge and picked up our new kitchen chairs and they are so nice! They are a dusty olive green. Here’s a link. I’m super happy about them!

Next on the to-do list is writing a to-do list of everything we have to get done this weekend before we leave for Rome. And tomorrow is Valborgsmässoafton and the annual bonfire and hotdog grilling at Mats & Annelott’s place. The weather is still supposed to be nice (it was gorgeous today, as it’s been all week), if a little colder, which is fine.

I can’t believe it is already the end of April! It’s the first of May this weekend! Crazy!
