I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TOMORROW

Karin inherited my creeping cruddy throat and cough and has been sick, sprayingly so, for 3 days. No school for her today, and because Anders left for a business trip this morning (to Italy. All week sigh) I stayed home with her and attempted to work while she alternately gyrated and sprawled. A constantly crashing connection made my plans for getting work done rather sporadic and frustrating, as did the painfully blurry and dry eyes that were plaguing me ALL DAMN DAY. She’s going to school tomorrow come phlegm or whatever hell or high water: I have a massage scheduled at work and it’s the last one of the year and no sick kid is going to gyp me out of a backrub, dammit.

hahahaha!!

Well, that remains to be seen. Suffice it to say, I’m throwing my desires out there so the universe knows what’s up.

There are some good things to be said for working at home, mostly to do with the things you do when you’re not actually working. Being able to take breaks doing other things chief among them. Even if that means working later than you would if you were in the office, it’s usually worth it. A wonky and very slow connection, however, do not a happy lizardek make. And I find I miss the social interaction and the ability to yell across the hall to my colleagues when necessary (always necessary!).

I did get quite a lot done, but not as much as I would have liked. And I didn’t get anything of note done at home either, since I ended up paying for the slow/crashy/wonked connection by working MUCH later into the evening.

Finished a really good book during my “lunch break”, which I very much enjoyed: Popco by Scarlett Thomas. Different from nearly everything I have ever read, and I’ve read a lot, so that’s saying something. I think.

I am more than half done with my Christmas shopping. WOOT, I say!
