I’ve thought about writing nearly every day of this month that we are already a week into, and even sat in front of the computer with the tab open to the blog admin page, but ultimately walked away without a post. I’ve got so much going on in every sphere of my life right now. It’s crazy time! Work has been nutso (as per usual; when is it not?) and I’ve had things to do in the evenings and on the weekends, and a mile-long to-do list in my head as well. Tomorrow is Pie Night and I have the day off today, and I wrote down an actual to-do list and have been triumphantly crossing things off it since this morning.
Already done: dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and toilets, wiping down doors, grocery shopping, ironing a shirt.
In addition: read several chapters of my book, worked on the jigsaw puzzle, called an AIC registration, went for a walk, and did my exercises.
Still to do: baking two cookie bases for fruit pizzas, moving chairs and tables. Possibly finishing my US taxes and FBARs. Possibly finish booking things for our Normandy trip.
I started a new exercise routine last Sunday (March 1) which includes a walk every day, even if just around the block. My knees and my hips are still so stiff and painful that going around the block is about all I can manage, but today I did two blocks, and the last 2 days when I knew I wasn’t going to be home in time to walk, I walked around our huge parking lot at work. I am not pushing myself, I am going at a pace that works for me, and I plan to increase gradually as my stiffness eases and there’s less pain (I hope) in my hips. I’ve also downloaded an exercise app, which has 7-12 minute programs of arm, leg, and stomach exercises, which I am doing every day. You can choose bed pilates, chair yoga, etc., and I’m starting with the bed one because I can’t get down on the floor. It’s a lot of leg lifts and stomach crunches, and I feel like it very much fits the level of out-of-condition-ness I am currently in. Baby crunches! Baby lifts! Baby steps! I just have to be super careful about my knees so that I don’t bork one of them again and end up in the same place as a few years ago. Hard to believe that I was able to speed walk 2 kilometers while talking to Lisel.
Anders gets home from Tingsryd tonight, though when I checked an hour or so ago, he was still there. He’s working from home next week, but the week after he will be in Kumla, and doesn’t know what day he will be home. I leave Friday morning that week so I sure hope I can see him before I’m gone for 3 weeks!!
There are 26 people signed up for Pie Night tomorrow. Last year we were 34 (!) so 26 seems extremely manageable to me. It’s all people I really like (apart from one newish member that I’ve only met once and who made no bones about her dislike of Sweden and plans to move as soon as possible). We are making our usual: two taco pajs and two fruit pizzas. I bought way too much fruit, but I’ll just eat it all later, so it’s fine.
The sun is shining again in a solid blue sky and there is a very definite spring feeling in the air. It’s 13C outside! I know that sounds cold, but when the sun is shining, it’s definitely on the way up. I don’t think I’ll have time to go buy pansies and plant them tomorrow, but maybe. I need to buy several bags of dirts as well to fill pots with, etc. If I get the pansies potted, it means that Anders will have to remember to water them while I’m gone. 😀
Sunday is a day of rest for sure, cleaning up and setting things to rights post-party and taking it as easy and as lazy as possible. Wishing easy and lazy for you as well!
