It’s the beginning of a relatively quiet week for me, since Anders left this morning with Karin for a week of skiing in Italy. I dropped him off at the station in Lund, then went and parked behind the station and walked over to Espresso House to have breakfast and sit and read for an hour, while waiting for Clemens Antik to open. I was determined to beat Martin there to get that vase, and I DID! HAHA! I WON! He got to work just before 10, but checked on Find My iPhone where I was, and knew I was in town to get the vase. 😀 He came out of Folk just as I was walking up to the door, and came with me in to Clemens while I got the vase. Very gracious abdication on his part in the race. I also picked up a tiny vase for Karin’s collection and Martin found a chicken kitchen timer for me! I have had the SAME timer before. It’s adorable. Too funny! The vase looks PERFECT on the sideboard under the Nell Brooker Mayhew painting that Karin and I brought home from my mom’s a couple of years ago. I’m so pleased!
I did some googling with Google lens and it turns out the vase is art nouveau from circa 1900. It’s made of nickel silver and multi-colored glass that goes from red to white. It needs to be polished, and I’ll have to research how best to do that, as I’m not sure if silver polish works on nickel silver. It’s SO pretty! I found a couple examples of the same vase on different auction sites and it had sold on one for more than double what I paid. Considering the price I paid for it was a steal, that’s pretty good.

I stopped at the mall and got my shampoo and conditioner, picked up sushi for lunch, and then stopped at Willy’s on the way home to get a couple of grocery items they don’t have at our usual store. After I got home I filled the bird feeders, emptied the dishwasher, filled my pillbox, and had lunch. Since then I’ve just been taking it easy. I will probably end up taking a nap since I was up so early (on a Saturday!), and tonight I plan on having leftovers of the korv stroganoff Anders made yesterday, and watching Melodifestivalen and an episode of Queer Eye. Tomorrow: no plans except taking out the recycleables, doing some light housecleaning, and reading. I have a new AIC registration to call as well, but as she gave a US phone number AND post address, I’m not even sure she’s in Sweden yet. I’ve sent her an email to check but no reply yet.
On Monday, I have a massage scheduled, and on Thursday I have our work kickoff. I have Friday off and plan to have dinner with Debbie and Camilla. We had to cancel our plans yesterday due to the snowy weather and galeforce winds that were storming around SkÃ¥ne. Anders and Karin get home next Saturday afternoon (which is Valentine’s Day). Maybe I should plan to have dinner ready or do some other Valentine-y thing. Hmmm…
Anyway, it’s a quiet weekend and a relatively quiet week ahead, which I shall thoroughly enjoy. Adieu!
