TALKING TO MYSELF AGAIN

Every time I think I’ll be better about posting more often, a week slinks by, and I’m left feeling guilty in its wake. Oh well, no one is reading anyway. Then again, if I really wanted readers, I could return to LiveJournal, or market this blog. I could post that I have posted on FB, but I must not really want readers since I haven’t done it, right? I know my brother reads once in awhile, I know 2 friends read once in a while, and I think my sister does. Maybe my kids once a year? I don’t actually know, and I don’t really worry too much about it. It gives me something just to keep my writing irons in the fire. And it’s fun to print it up as a book at the end of each year. I always print 2 copies. One goes to Martin who has all of his copies with him in his apartment, and one stays here, to eventually go to Karin. So there, posterity! You’re taken care of!

Of course, my kids will also have to deal with all my stuff at some point. It’s not all about neatly printed copies of my blog. It’s all the crap that I’ve accumulated in my lifetime that fills every drawer, shelf, closet, and room of our house. Anders’ crap, too, to be fair, but I seem to have weighted the scales rather too heavily (there’s a metaphor for you) in my own crap favor. The vast amount of STUFF in our house is mine, for better or for worse. Most of it is books. Heh.

I just realized that I never removed all the books I have put into bags for the media sale in January from my online Library inventory. I just stopped and got the 2 big bags out of my closet so I can do that when I’m done writing. This means there is a chance I might regret removing something and pull it out of the bag and put it back on the shelf. According to my library list, I have 1678 books. Minus all the books in the bags, I might be down to 1640? A new project! I should do a new inventory and update my library list thoroughly.

One project was just finished…I got a gift certificate from Debbie and Camilla for my birthday, for Onskefoto, which is the site I’ve been using to create and publish photobooks of our trips. I had been thinking it would be good to make a couple of photo books of older trips, where all the images are gathered on CDs/DVDs which we never look at. At least a book would be more likely to be picked up and leafed through? So I did that over the past weekend: family trip to Scotland from July 2006. Karin turned 7 while we were there. That was 20 years ago. How crazy is that? We’ve taken lots of family trips over the years, so I certainly have enough photos to make a dozen more books if I’m so motivated. We’ll see.

Anders is gone again, for work this time. He just got back on Saturday evening from 11 days away hiking up north in Sweden and Norway with a friend. They did a similar trip last year on a different part of the mountains in the very north of Sweden. I suspect they’ll do it again as long as they both feel physically up to it. He’s only gone until Wednesday this week, which is nice, since originally he was going to be away the next 2-3 weeks. The service they were supposed to do got cancelled or postponed or something, but then his boss asked him to go anyway for a few days to do some machine calibrations.

This week is a short one for me as well, in the sense that I’ve actually taken off both Thursday and Friday. I took off Thursday because originally Debbie and Camilla and I had made plans to go see MacBeth in English at Malmö castle in the afternoon, but the plans got messed up: when Debbie went to get an additional ticket for her sister, she found out it was sold out, so I ended up selling the 3 tickets I had bought for us to someone in the AIC, and Debbie got us all tickets to the evening show instead. So I could technically work that day but I need to use up vacation days anyway, which is why I had also originally taken Friday off. But now my kids are planning some fun for that day, as my birthday gift from them. I don’t know what they have planned, just know that I have to be in Lund at 11:50 (and have already eaten lunch, so it’s not lunch plans!) and I know that we are NOT going to see the new Spiderman movie (which I’m kind of bummed about actually, because I want to see it, and it’s already been in the theaters so long, it probably won’t be there much longer).

And Monday is now almost over, so only two more work days and then an extra long weekend! Yay! Everybody say Yeahya!
