A CONSTANT TO-DO LIST

I survived an earthquake today. To be completely honest, even though at the time I DID actually think “was that an earthquake?!” I wasn’t actually sure I hadn’t just hallucinated the slight shiver the world gave, and didn’t think anything of it until Karin sent a message to our family chat asking if we knew there had been an earthquake. I was walking through the hallway to the kitchen when I felt it, and almost immediately dismissed it, since it lasted literally about 2 seconds. I looked out the kitchen windows as I entered the room and saw the neighbor across the street pulling into his driveway in his van, and just thought maybe it was something with the van.

That’s technically the SECOND Swedish earthquake I’ve lived through. The last one was in 2008 and I wrote about it that day. It was much more obvious and lasted longer, though still only seconds long. Martin slept through it. Karin felt this one, in Copenhagen, so wondering if the center was closer to her in Copenhagen. I just read the Swedish news which said it happened in Denmark and lasted about 20 seconds (not here, though). It was only a 3.9 on the Richter, so not even as high as the one in 2008.

Exciting! Except for the part where I wasn’t even sure that’s what it was, and the fact that I completely forgot about it right away. 😀

I worked from home today and got a lot done, with 2 online meetings and holding a training for a new colleague in France. She turned out to be half-Swedish, and we had a nice chat. After work I went to the grocery store to buy a shit-ton of tomato juice (which I’m now drinking heavily because it’s the only way I can get my new powder-based medicine down), and then called and activated a new member for the AIC. I also took care of my present for Anders for our 30th wedding anniversary (wondering if I need to drop a hint, haha), so feeling quite productive about my day. Tomorrow I am going to book group, which I hope will still be happening since the hostess just sent an email warning that she has a low-grade cold. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled! Better not to get sick right before my brother arrives though, and a week and a half before Anders and I leave for Normandy.

There are so many things whirling around in my head these days. I have a never-ending to-do list that gets added to constantly, so even when I can wipe things off of it, their place is almost immediately filled with something new. Life is just a constant to-do list, isn’t it? I should be used to it by now. Tomorrow I have to run into Lund right after work to pick up my reframed gargoyle. I also need to drop off our signed contracts at the bank if Anders was able to get ahold of our investment banker today to get his question answered before we sign.

I might need to go buy more cucumber plants, because I don’t think the two we got from Maria have survived being planted outside…it’s just been too cold. We have 4 tomato plants of which I’ll either give 2 away or to the kids. 4 is too many for us, and for our pots, as big as they are. And I was going to buy a regular cucumber plant anyway, but the nursery was out of them. They told me they keep selling out, but will be getting more soon.

Well, I’m going to end this SUPER CRAZY EXCITING DISASTER EDITION of Lizardek’s Obiter Dictum. Hope you have also survived reading about my day!

XO
