{"id":1316,"date":"2007-01-11T23:09:00","date_gmt":"2007-01-12T05:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lizardek.com\/blog\/index.php\/2007\/01\/11\/tempus-fugit\/"},"modified":"2022-07-05T14:46:46","modified_gmt":"2022-07-05T12:46:46","slug":"tempus-fugit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lizardek.com\/blog\/index.php\/2007\/01\/11\/tempus-fugit\/","title":{"rendered":"TEMPUS FUGIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>10 years ago today I arrived in Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>Anders had gone ahead of me, arriving on New Year&#8217;s Day since he had to start work, and I was still at my parent&#8217;s house helping my mom deal with the aftermath of my dad&#8217;s death 2 weeks earlier. We went straight from the airport to the hospital to greet the arrival of his sister&#8217;s newborn baby, who celebrated his 10th birthday yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>10 years! I didn&#8217;t know it would be that long. I have lived abroad for 16 years of my life now.<\/p>\n<p>3 years ago <a href=\"http:\/\/lizardek.livejournal.com\/2004\/01\/11\/\">I wrote a post<\/a> that listed all the major accomplishments I had achieved since I came to Sweden. I can add a couple of things to that list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>survived company closing and job loss<\/li>\n<li>got the 2nd AND the 3rd jobs that I applied for in Sweden<\/li>\n<li>sang at Globen in Stockholm<\/li>\n<li>had tea with the Queen of Sweden*<\/li>\n<li>held a position for 2 years as an section editor for a great <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mosaicminds.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online magazine<\/a><\/li>\n<li>badly sprained a foot and had to learn to walk on crutches for the first time ever<\/li>\n<li>fulfilled a lifelong dream with a trip to Scotland<\/li>\n<li>stayed married for 10 years (and counting)! Yay, us!<\/li>\n<li>learned how to let go of the reins and when to take them back up again<\/li>\n<li>dared to post a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lizardek.com\/lj_images\/music\/crazygame.wma\">music clip of myself singing<\/a> on the internet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>10 years in Sweden. I&#8217;m still not a Swedish citizen, though, even though I qualified years ago. I need to remedy that. Maybe this year. I like it here. I think I&#8217;ll stay.<\/p>\n<p>However, if it doesn&#8217;t stop raining soon, I will pack up the house and the family and move us all to the Mediterranean. I hear Nice is nice.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lizardek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/weatherwidget_rain.jpg\" width=232 border=0 height=232 align=\"Middle\"><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"-3\">*She was in the same room.
