Awakened at 6:30 a.m. to flowers, gifts, singing, and the smiling faces of my family. Greeted with fresh-baked homemade cinnamon scones and hugs from colleagues. Plans for lunch in town and sushi dinner later. The day is looking good so far! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><b>A Birthday Poem<br \/>\nTed Kooser<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Just past dawn, the sun stands<br \/>\nwith its heavy red head<br \/>\nin a black stanchion of trees,<br \/>\nwaiting for someone to come<br \/>\nwith his bucket<br \/>\nfor the foamy white light,<br \/>\nand then a long day in the pasture.<br \/>\nI too spend my days grazing,<br \/>\nfeasting on every green moment<br \/>\ntill darkness calls,<br \/>\nand with the others<br \/>\nI walk away into the night,<br \/>\nswinging the little tin bell<br \/>\nof my name.<\/p>\n<p><b>More excellent poetry can be found at<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/poetrythursday.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poetry Thursday<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>29 for the, hrm&#8230;somethingth time.
