I felt like the year was proceeding at a casual pace, and then suddenly it zippered up and sped into autumn. The sky is a glowing orangeblue over clouds. I made it home right before the deluge, and when I was finished putting groceries away, there was a rainbow arching over Flyinge. Sun on the way in again! After my superslug non-social weekend, it was kind of nice to be back at work today. I only had one meeting, which was excellent because I got a ton of things done and am nearly caught up after being away for 2 days last week, plus already sending off things in the 4 tickets I took this morning.

I finally heard from Anders yesterday, he sent me a map pin with the message “we are here” and a heart emoji. Haha, he’s so romantic. 😀 They are south of Kebnekaise, but very far north in Sweden. He told me they were going to be crossing into Norway at some point, but I don’t remember the details.

It’s been about a year since my hair loss nightmare last fall. I started noticing the hair loss in August (hard to miss as it was coming out in huge amounts), and by the end of September it was so bad that I bought some turbans and had Albertina cut the rest of it off. It was AWFUL. Thankfully, because I was by then off all the meds from my emergency colitis treatment, it started slowly to come back. By Christmas I was able to stop wearing the turbans (which I LOATHED) and just comb my hair back and spray it into place. It was quite thin but if you weren’t looking closely, it didn’t look that bad. Since about February it’s been coming in gangbusters, and growing almost an inch a month. I can lift it off the back of my neck! I can shake my head and feel it swing. It’s all grown in at once very thick and if I wasn’t having Albertina trim it regularly, it would all be the same length. I see maybe 1-2 hairs in the sink or bathtub each day, which is NORMAL and I am SO THANKFUL.

Just in case you were wondering, there are only 115 days until Christmas. 😀

The President of the AIC and I have spent the last two weeks updating documents for the club including our social media/electronic communications policy and an amendment to our constitution (which has to be sent to the membership 3 weeks prior to voting on it), and a new code of conduct. She has done most of the work, rewriting and writing. I’ve been reviewing and commenting, etc., and will help with the updatng info on the web once everything is approved and accepted. Apart from our constitution, which doesn’t address behavior, we only had a few rules for our private club FB group, a privacy statement which gives info about how and why we collect info, and is in compliance with GDPR. After a major incident with a member, we realized that we needed something more concrete that would give the board direction when we need it, hence the code of conduct. It’s a shame that we even need such things, but there it is. We’ve been around since the end of 1997 and in all that time, we’ve never before had the need for these kinds of documents, but there it is. Now we do.

A friend of mine told me last week that her daughter, who is younger than Karin, is pregnant. And not on purpose. Eeesh. I have lots of friends nowadays with grandchildren, and I don’t know whether to be sad or relieved that the chances of my having grandskids is quite slim. Albertina, my hairdresser, is a grandmother now, and told me that when she was babysitting her quite new granddaughter overnight this past weekend, she was amazed at how much she had forgotten about dealing with babies. Personally, I’ve blocked out the trauma, so if I ever DO become a grandmother (eeeesh!!) it will be a whole new learning curve, haha.

There! A post to end August.
