Being this hot this long turns me into a wicked witch. I almost wish someone would douse me with a cold bucket of water. It’s been in the 90s for 2 days (34C today) and I don’t know how anyone stands it in countries where this is the norm or worse. How do people stand it?? I have minimal clothing, ceiling fans, and a regimen of opening and closing windows and blinds as the sun moves, to block the worst of it, and I’m still cranky and sweaty. I’ve managed to do a few things today, but if I had a fainting couch to collapse on to, I would. Instead I park myself inbetween chores under the ceiling fan in the living room and drink ice water until I recover.<\/p>\n
All of Europe is suffering under an uncommon and severe heatwave right now, and it’s not even July yet. What are we going do to if temps climb even more? I’m sure Kathey and Russell are snickering at me from their home in Texas, where their outside temperatures are in the HIGH 90s, just like I used to snicker at people moaning about the cold when I lived in Chicago. <\/p>\n
I’ve had to close most of the windows for most of the day, as the superheated air outside isn’t moving at all. When I went out earlier to drop a bag of trash in the bins, the heat actually felt like a WEIGHT on me. Heavy and suffocating, with no breeze. Ugh. Temps are supposed to drop down to the low 20s in a couple of days and bring rain with them, but it sure can’t happen soon enough for me. I hate this heat.<\/p>\n
